WILLOWZ

A very short interview is what Willowz have given me. I hope it says anything to you but I should have wanted some more but what the f—k. This happened anyway in the beginning of june-05

History?
-We are from Anaheim...and we all live a block away from each other .So we started a band.
 

Please tell me a little about every member, age, interests, work, family and something bad about every one?
-Richie 21 likes music and throws up before shows normally,Jessica 21 likes shopping and spends all her money on Feiry's, Alex 19 likes Stephen King and plays video games too much, Dan 23 likes graffiti ,thinks he's black.
 

Have it been many personal changes in Willowz?
-Mabye...I’m  not allowed to say.

Where do you come from, which city, is there any good bands there right now or have it been any good bands there?
-Anaheim! no never...No Doubt is from here.

Any other good bands in your homecountry?
-Yes.The Stooges,Bob Dylan,White Stripes...too many to name.

You changed record label from Dionysus to Sympathy for the Record industry, why?
-We like sympathy better.

How seems it to be on SFTRI?
-It's cool cause you get to go to Johns house and play with his cats.

Is there any other bands there that you like?
-Yes we like a million bands.

I compare you a little with Pixies? Comment?
-We love the Pixies...thank you.

Is there any other bands you have been compared to?
-Yes, too many to name...I can compare a Chevy to a Ford but who cares?

Do you care about reviews?
-If they are good.

Which is the most peculiar review you ever have got?
-ummm...we never really got one.

What shall a good reviewer write about? Have he/she right to take someone down like many do?
-I don’t know...people can say whatever they want...it never really matters in the greater scheme of things.
 

What do you know about Sweden? What is typical swedish?
-Meatballs,and the Hives.

Have you heard any good swedish bands?
-Yea tons.

Please rank your five favourite records, five favourite concerts and five most important things in life?
-Well i cant speak for the band on this question but my top 5 are
Velvet Underground's 1st record,

Stooges Raw Power,

Stevie Wonder Songs in the key of life,

Beatles Rubber soul,

Bob Dylan highway 61 revisited,

Wu tang's 1st record.
concerts I liked Stooges at ATP,

Radiohead at Coachella,

The Mutes at soma,

Mars Volta at Henry Fonda,

Lollapolloza the year Devo,Ramones,Psychotica,Soundgarden,Metallica played.
Important things to me in life are God,family,friends,music,food.

First, last and most expensive record ever bought?
-I just bought a Black Sabbath box set and that was 85 or something but most expensive vinyl I’ve ever "bought" was an original pressing of the Stones 1st record for 50
 

Most embarrassing record in your collection?
-Van Halen

How is a good concert with Willowz?
-Like having tea with your grandmother.

How does the typical Willowz-fan look like?
-There is no typical fan.

I have The CD on Dionysus and The latest on  SFTRI? Have you done any other records and how can I get them?
-SFTRI rereleased the Dionysus ep with 4 new songs The Willowz "are coming"...we've done some 7 inches too that u can track down off our site.

I think you sound both beautiful and distorted, fast and slow and you varies between man /woman vocals, from where do get the inspiration to a new melody?

-ummm...from the air pretty much.
 

A new lyric?
-More life experience.

What does punk mean to you,is it only a word or is it a lifetsyle?
-It was a type of music.
 

Politics and music , does it goes hand in hand?
-If  you want it too...
 

Any good political band/writer you like?
-Chris Zeigler

But politics isn’t anything for you?
-Sure it is...I vote.

Futureplans for the band?
-Touring, and we are making a video for every song on "Talk in circles"and SFTRI is gonna release a DVD with them all on it.
