Warrior Kids must be one of the biggest punk/oigroups in France because they have done a lot of records through the times. Marc is the one who plays bass in the group and here he answered my questions really quick a day in October 2014

Please tell me a little bit history of the group?
-The band began in 1982 in the French skinhead scene, first ep 1984, first album in 1985.
We were influenced by the skinhead sound for reggae and ska and by punk rock music like The clash, the ramones, stiff little fingers, Ruts and many more bands

Please tell me a little about every member in the group right now, age, family, work, interests and something bad about everyone?
-I’m Marc bass guitar and vocals 48 years old, Seb guitarist player and backing vocals and Gilles drums and backing vocals have 38 years, our interest is music, listen to records, play music, have fun with friends, drink some good French wine and family.
Something bad, for Seb he has long hair ahahah, Gilles is very often late when we leave Marseille to do some tours and me I’m perfect and I think it’s something bad to be perfect ahahah

Your reggaesound as you have on some of your songs goes back in time I understand? Favoruites from the past in the reggae/skascene?
-Yes, The Specials, Madness, The beat, but reggae music too like Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, the Paragons and many more

Have you heard something from The Who after your Warrior Kids are alright?
-Good question, I appreciate, we are Who fans and it was a way to say that, in the kids are alright they are with the English flag, In warrior kids are alright we are with the French flag, but we’re really Who fans

What´s the best thing with playing live? I can imagine that you´re good live after all this time?
-It’s to share all those good moments with the audience, when you play at the other side of the earth and when people appreciate your music, it’s incredible.

And where is best to play?
-We really loved the USA and Canada, Germany is special for us because our label is a german label and we have a good audience in Germany, Sweden was great too, we played 2 times there and we have very good friends, hope we’ll play a third time in Sweden

How is it to play this sort of music in France?
-It’s difficult, a little scene with too many political bullshit, we must love music to continue in a country like France

How would you describe your music in three words?
-Punk rock music with ska reggae influences

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or is it a lifestyle?
-It’s a lifestyle if you can understand our lyrics you’ll be sure of that, it’s something that allow you to be different and to be free to say what you want to say

How do you see on downloading, mp3 and that stuff?
-No problem for me, if a guy can discover my music with that, but for me I prefer have vinyls, it’s another point of view, even if I was against downloading and mp3, we cannot do something against that, I prefer to be positive, download but buy records too

How is it to live in the France now? Politically?
-In Marseille, south of France we are lucky with the climate, the sun shines and it’s cool, but in music our town is a rap music town, it’s not rock n roll, the city is poor with lots of unemployment, France is not the best today, hope it will be better soon

Is there any good bands from France now? Is the punkscene big? How is it in your hometown?
-A little scene divided by political bullshits, I think the best bands in France were in the past, really love Camera Silens

What do you know about Sweden? You have been here?
-Two times and have very good friends, 2 of them went to see a Warrior kids gig in 2012 and they sleep at my home, I have very good friends, really love Sweden but I know only Stockholm

Have you heard any good bands from Sweden?
-Yes I know Agent Bulldog and the Lowlifes but I must say I don’t know many more bands

Your lyrics, who does them and what influences you? Is it important to have choruses that people easily can sing along with?
-I write the lyrics, it’s social and everyday life with rage and nostalgia, sometimes I hear a word and it influences me to write a song; yes it’s important to sing with people, when we played in other countries, we try to do it with oh oh oh and things like that to share with the audience

Is there any subject that you never will write anything about?
-I think I won’t write about religion, each people can believe or not, but I don’t want to give my point of view and influence someone

Politic and music, does it goes hand in hand?
-Oh, I don’t think, everything is politics, if social life is politics, yes ok but if politics is to give lessons and to brainwash each other, it sucks

Best political band/artist?
-The Clash even if I don’t agree with everything they said

Do you think that music(lyrics and so on) can change anyones life, I mean people who listens to music?
-Change Is a big word, influence yes, if you touch someone in the deep of himself, it’s great and it’s an honour, but I think it helps but to change someone with music it’s to the person that needs to change to change himself, maybe with the music help

What´s the biggest difference to play nowadays if you compare with when you started to play??
-Contacts is the big difference, today with internet we have played in Germany, Sweden, Canada,USA, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, it was really hard when we started to play outside our town.

Can you imagine yourself do a tribute song to a football team, animal rights or something political? Or have you done that already maybe??
-Football team, I think many bands have done it, I love football but too much money, I’m writing a song about professional football players, I say they are young, they are rich, they are nice but they are cunt ahahah Animal rights why not? Political like I said in a way I talk about that

Please tell me a funny thing which have happened during your career and under some gig?
-I’m a lefthand player, have broken strings or a bass guitar fucked, have finished to play with a right hand bass guitar, it’s difficult but it was a good challenge, funny things they are many and many, one of the best is to have someone that sing a song with us like Adolescent, in Sweden I played in Stockholm, it was hot in the room and I have removed my t shirt, one girl has tried during the gig to put his finger in my navel ahahah

How does your audience look like? Which people do you miss on your concerts?
-It’s very eclectic, skinhead, punks, rockers, girls and boys, for me it’s ok

Please rank your five favoriterecords, five favoriteconcerts and five most important things in life?
-Records : Sex Psitols Never mind the bollocks –  Clash first album, Clash Give em enough rope,  Clash London Calling, The Ramones it’s alive, sorry only 5? I have many and many others
Concerts, have seen Cockney Rejects, Outcasts, Undertones and many more but I shall have loved to see Clash, Ramones and many more
Most important things in life : health at first, love, respect, to be honest and true

Is it boring with interviews? Which is the most stupid question you ever have got??
-Oh I have one, in an album in 2007 we have recorded a song in honouring the Ramones, when the song had a break, we have put the voice of Dee Dee Ramone that say one two three four, we have put the voice on a Ramones song, Dee Dee was dead some years ago, one guy in an interview asked me where I have met Dee Dee that sings one two three four on our song; sorry have not met a dead person ;o)

You have had a lot of good bands through the times, Edith Nylon, Trotskids, Kidnap etc? favourites from the past?
-Camera Silens for me was the best

Skinheads from the 60´s or the 80´s , which is the best ones except the one nowadays?
-In 60’s I think they were hard mods with soul music, reggae and ska, in the 80’s it was oi and the return of ska, I prefer the 60’s for the look

Futureplans for the band?
-A concert in France the 15 november, a new single with a german band and maybe I hope a german tour in april 2015 and to play in February for our new label called Sunny Bastards

For yourself?
-I do my best every day, hope to discover new good things, health at first, with health you can do anything

Wisdomword?
-Understanding and understanding the others, to play in other countries has allowed me to see others cultures and it’s important to be better

Something to add?
-Hello to my Swedish friends Pike, Kimmen Robert Maya and many more and hope to play again in your country, thanks for the questions
