W.A.C.K. comes from Brazil and they plays streetpunk or maybe we shall call it oi. Here they anyway really kind to me and answered a lot of questions from me. This was done in june 2015

Please tell me a little bit history of the group?
-It was in 2012 that we played our first gig at home in Brazil’s biggest industrial area, right after that and few changes in team we came out with this line-up that recorded the album and here we are.

Please tell me a little about every member in the group right now, age, family, work, interests and something bad about everyone? Have you been in any other bands before?
-I am Deni (vocals), I am teacher and I was a former member of a Brazilian hardcore band called Ação Direta , Mauro (guitar) is a tattooist and he was an original member of one of the biggest brazilian Oi!/Punk bands called Garotos Podres. Hugo (bass) is unemployed at the moment and he played at several metal and punk bands, finally we have Marcio (drums), the man is a philosopher (haha) and played at some Mod bands form São Paulo. We are all interest in traditional scooters and motorcycles and music – not only oi! and punk, but music in general. I don’t think I can find a single bad aspect to talk about us!! Hahahahaha

I can hear early oipunk and especially 4-skins? Am I right? Favorites from the past?
-I’m not sure about the great 4 Skins, some people would say so, but definitely early Oi! and Punk are the biggest influences for us.

W.A.C.K are you satisfied with the name?? How did it came up? Which is the best band name you know?
-Yes, I guess we are. I came up with the name out of blue, mainly because we all have the same working class background, our fathers used to work in big factories, we all grew up in suburbs with this kind of environment. I lived in England for a while and the association with the East End of London was inevitable. We use it as a symbol to talk to the same kind of people found anywhere in the world.
And… I think the best name is still to be created.

What´s the best thing with playing live?
-The atmosphere itself, the energy released, I think that is what music is about.

And where is best to play? And the worst place?
-I wouldn’t know how to answer that, we don’t have this vast experience playing live.

How is to play this sort of music in Brazil right now?
-To tell you the truth it hasn’t change much when it comes to people’s attitude, unfortunately! But I guess nowadays you have a bit more of venues and a public that wouldn’t go to this kind of gig years ago.

How would you describe your music in three words?
-Sincere – Loud – Straightforward

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or is it a lifestyle?
-It has been a lifestyle for me since I can remember being able to have an opinion about anything, even when I was away from going to gigs and hanging around with people, even when I let my hair grow, for a while (hahahaah, yes it’s true – bad times)…even then, it was in my attitude, is what I am.

How do you see on downloading, mp3 and that stuff?
-At this point in life, I really don’t care about it. Does anyone still care?

How is it to live in Brazil now? Politically?
-The same crap as usual when it comes to politics- Corruption, poverty, wealthy people, lack of investment in social care. Still a beautiful, rich, multicultural country. We love down here.

Is there any good bands from Brazil now? Is the punkscene big? How is it in your hometown?
We come from a region that has spawned rock, punk, oi!, etc. bands for ages, now…since the late 70’s and now and then we still see really good bands coming out of theses streets.
Check out for ska and oi!/punk bands form São Paulo… you might find something you like.

What do you know about Sweden?
-That you have beautiful party girls, that you eat fish for breakfast and that you have created, along with Finland, the best Hardcore Bands ever!! Hahahaha… Just joking about the first part, but the second is absolutely true!

Have you heard any good bands from Sweden?
-I love swedish hardcore bands, since the 80’s… recently I heard “On The Job”, they are from there, aren’t they?

Your lyrics, who does them and what influences you?
-I write them and basically we talk about what we live…the first ones were more punkish protest kind of thing, but that was just for the first ones.

Is there any subject that you never will write anything about?
-I’ll never write anything that promotes racial segregation, meaningless hate to other kind, to promote any religious or political ideology and I will never support people who chucks ketchup on their slices of pizza, it’s just outrageous!! hahahaha

Politic and music, does it goes hand in hand?
-It has always been there for punk music, but it all took a strange turn. I rather keep them away from each other, I mean when it comes to support a side, or an ideology…  but we sing about everyday politics….about waking up ang going to work, about paying your bills.

Best political band/artist?
-The Clash….. they were also a non-political band

Do you think that music(lyrics and so on) can change anyones life, I mean people who listens to music?
-Definitely!  Is it doesn’t…it’s not fulfilling its purpose.

Your cover on your CD looks really nice, is it important to have a record cover which shows people which type of music you play? Your favorite recordcover?
-IT IS THE FIRST IMPRESSION TO WHOEVER STILL HAVEN’T HERAD YOUR MUSIC, IT SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT THE BAND, EVEN IF THE DOESN’T WANT TO… I GUESS WE CARE ABOUT IT.

Is it important to get out physical records of your stuff? Why or why not?
-I think it is. I am a fan of the vinyl records and still buy them, also cds. I believe there’s nothing like it.

Please tell me a funny thing which have happened during your career and under some gig?
-As I said..we have not played many gigs, so I can’t really remember anything important now…but if I do..I’ll let you know. hahaha

How does your audience look like? Which people do you miss on your concerts?
-It’s  pretty mixed crowd….We like it that way.

Please rank your five favoriterecords, five favoriteconcerts and five most important things in life?
-Sorry…but I’ll refuse to do that…. Simply because it’s completely impossible for me!!!!!  hahaha

Is it boring with interviews? IS it much interviews??
-Sometimes….. this one is really long…I prefer to speak, to answer face to face… but, let’s go.

If you could choose five bands from the past and the history and nowadays and both dead
and living bands to have a concert together with your band. Which five have you been chosed?
-I am not allowed to answer that…… the rest of the band might crucify me for if I did!!! hahaha

Is music a good way to get out frustration and become a nice person outside the music??
-I believe it can help in one’s evolution and self-criticism as any kind of art can do.

Which is the most odd question you ever have got in an interview?
-I haven’t had and I hope I won’t.

Which is the question you want to have but you never get. Please ask it and answer it?
-Would you like a free beer?
Yes, please!

Futureplans for the band?
-Play more nice worthy gigs, record a second album, play abroad, record a split with some band, maybe

For yourself?
-I wanna be always able to work, provide for my family, play with my band and ride my Vespa around.

Wisdomword?
-Be yourself, turn off the computer and find a mate to have a drink and exchange some nice ideas.

Something to add?
-Thank you so much for the opportunity , congrats for your work and we hope to able to play Sweden one day.  Cheers everyone!!!
