The Czech republic band Unsolved Case was so
kind to answer some questions from me. It´s
their first interview and it feels sometimes
like it became some difficulties with the
english language but here we go….november 2019
Please tell me a little bit history of the
group?
-We have
played since 2016 and our band is formed from
bands like The Bridge of Sacrifices (metal-hc)
and Urin (punk-grind).
Please tell me a little about every member in
the group right now, age, family, work,
interests and something bad about everyone?
Earlier bands? Other bands on the side?
-Dan:
Bass, 24 years, proud father, never played on
instrument (first try), skateboarding, he comes
late literally
Honza: Vocal,
25 years, ex-bands TBOS and Vpatětrn (blackened
crust), never stop talking, love doing drawings
Petr: Guitar,
26 years, ex-band TBOS, BMX & chilli lover
Michal: Drums,
39 years, ex-band Urin, Angry lizard homie
I can hear much different influences but mostly
hardcore and metal? Favorites from the past?
-That's
it. This music formed us. And every man in our
band listen so much on different kind of music.
Unsolved Case: are you satisfied with the name?
How did it came up? You weren’t afraid that some
other band would be named like this? Which is
the best bandname you know?
-It was
a moment of decision. Searching for name of band
or something like that is always a unsolved case.
We dont know about any other band with this name.
What´s the best thing with playing live?
-Element,
freedom, energy, therapy. Always without a stand.
And where is best to play? And the worst place?
-On the
ground, without stand, near the crowd, small
clubs - the best place is in your living room.
The worst is in a big club, big stand and
without contact with the people.
How is to play this sort of music in Czech
republic right now? Which types of bands do you
have concerts together with?
-There
are many concerts in Czech republic. Lot of
people in the scene organize actions of music
and things like information about situation in
this world. Our hometown is near Prague, then
our look to scene is very positive. We play with
many different bands. Important is soul of
alternative & DIY culture, friendly and hatefree
atmosphere.
How would you describe your music in three
words?
-Fun,
energy, need
What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or
is it a lifestyle?
-Of course life
style - no one of us hasn't typically punk
hairstyle like "číro" Chance or challenge do
things different and don't be chained by the
stereotypes.
Which song/album or group was it who took you
into punk/hardcore?
-Dan:
Enter Shikari - Common dreads
Honza:
Hatebreed - Perseverance
Petr: Your
Demise - The kids we used to be
Michal:
Conflict, Oi Polloi
How is it to live in Czech Republic right now?
Politically? Fascists?
-We are
still living in decadent comfort...society is
changing minute by minute and fear is the big
wheel progress. Groups of xenophobic radicals
are not on the light of the street, but the rest
of citizens of czech republic are inclinable to
stereotypes, what beat the progress of good to
us all.
Is there any good bands from Czech republic
right now? Is the punkscene/metalscene/hardcorescene
big? How is it in your hometown?
-It's
relative. There are so many bands of hc, punk,
metal. Bands of hc is less but it has a power of
cooperation and help. We live in small town,
what give us a life like punk band Družba, one
Oi! band Diverze and others in the cellar, haha.
We have one thrash metal band in Kralupy. Their
name is Dissection and they said that they play
the oldest thrash metal ever, but it's cool! :D
What do you know about Sweden? Have you been
here sometime?
-None of us have never been in Sweden. You have
long nights, high taxes, expensive alcohol,
maybe really good social politics, you very
often chew tobacco
and you have so many good bands!
Have you heard any good bands from Sweden? I see
that the singer have a Wolfbrigade t-shirt?
-We know
about so many bands like Abba, Perkele,
Wolfbrigade, Martyrdöd, Dark Throne, Nasum, The
Arson Project, Victims and many other bands. A
month ago, we play with Mass Worship from
Sweden, it was a very nice gig.
Your lyrics, who does them and what influences
you? Never in your own language? Please
tell me a little about the songs:
Virus?
Liptone?
Already lost?
-The
lyrics is done by vocalanimal Honza. Honza: Our
lyrics are mostly about the human behaviour in
society, about the rage. I just want to burn the
flame in empty souls of people, because we live
in century of unhealthy consuming, psycho
problems and many many other things. Just read
the lyrics of our songs, and you will see. :)
Virus: This is
depressive apocalyptic song about the next days
for us. Planet Earth doesn't have the capacity
for us. It's only one question for our leaders,
what will they do, because if they do nothing...
it could be very interesting. Rich get richer,
poor get poorer (c) No turning back.
Liptone: The
name of song is in some harmony to lyrics.
Because you know... sometimes the thing, noise,
view, can't be bad or good, it's just only on
point of view and view on a moment thing.
Sometimes walk on the other side of... for us
stereotype road..., could be very impressive and
a lesson of experience for future days. We have
our truth in our own hands and decisions.
Already lost:
The life of these days are very open, sometimes
open like predator's mouth. Better be in hide
and don't use every life weapons to be the
center of attention. But we are still tattoed,
pierced and our behaviour look like a
prehistoric lizard, but it's a cult, to know
ourselves. And of course, it's all about the
flame in our souls to escape from this social
reality and be with people who love us and who
respect us. Of course today situation is very
open but sometimes not. It's life, to be lost.
To be already lost.
Is there any subject that you never will write
anything about?
-Maybe
it's taboo with it´s substance. There are so
many themes what we can't do in this world of no
time. :(
Politic and music, does it goes hand in hand?
Is it important to get out your opinions
in music?
-Of
course, it's the main thing of this music, what
we love. The band is the best way to tell it.
Best political band/artist?
-Dan:
Michajlov, Kovadlina
Petr: Stray
from the path, Wolfdown
Honza:
Thalidomide
Michal: Oi
polloi, Moscow Death Brigade
Do you think that music(lyrics and so on) can
change anyones life, I mean people who listens
to music?
-Yes -
we all are the living examples. :)
Your favorite recordcover alltime? Do you play
any?
-Covers are ok,
it's the honor for non-playing-bands, but we
don't play them.
Is it important to get out physical records of
your stuff? Why or why not? Vinyl, CD, cassette,
what do you prefer if you could choose whatever
?
-It's
cool to have own records on something like cd,
vinyl, cassettes. The life is changing of course
and these things have less cost of necessary.
But vinyl rules.
Please tell me a funny thing which have happened
during your career and under some gig?
-Every
concert is unique - we are having fun on our own.
How does your audience look like? Which people
do you miss on your concerts? Which is the
biggest band you ever have played together with?
-Mix
of metalheads, skaters, punx. We need more
mulletheads and rednecks. The best concert was
with Paura, Lock&Key, Desacato Civil, Elephants,
we think with every band, because the soul of
every action is unbeatable. :)
Please rank your five favoriterecords, five
favoriteconcerts and five most important things
in life?
-It
depends on mood. It's different and changeable
for each other.
Is it boring with interviews? Is it much
interviews?
-It's
our first interview.
Do you care about reviews? Which is the most
peculiar you ever had, with this band or any
other band you have been to?
-We
are not som interested but we are glad for every
feedback.
Which bands do people compare you to, is it
boring that people compare you to other bands or
is it understandable?
-It's
not necessary. Every band is unique and with a
soul. Sometimes is good to compare but not
enough, sometimes we laugh for comparions with
our band to others. We are too young to big
comparings.
If you could choose five bands from the past and
the history and nowadays and both dead and
living bands to have a concert together with
your band. Which five have you been chosen?
-Bane,
Johnny Cash, Nasum, GG Allin, Mozart
Is music a good way to get out frustration and
become a nicer person outside the music?
-Yeah.
It's the best way. Recommended (Honza :D).
Futureplans for the band?
-Playing,
recording, living, surviving a meeting
interesting people like you. People with similar
life.
For yourself?
-Positive
mind attitude!!! Get to know each other more.
Give the fire for the next generation of punx.
Wisdomword?
-Our
only enemy - we are!!! Let's defend ourselves.
Live hc!
