STRUNG OUT IS A GROUP WHICH I ALWAYS HAVE LIKED, I HEARD AND SAW THEM THE FIRST TIME AS A SUPPORT ACT TO NOFX IN 1993 IN GOTHENBURG. HERE´S JAKES ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT. THE INTERVIEW WAS DONE IN THE MIDDLE OF APRIL 2001

 

History?

-Well, we started in 92 and met Fat Mike at a Show. He liked us and told us to send him some demos and keep in touch. We did and in Dec
of 93 we recorded Another day in paridise.We've been with Fat ever since and have released 6 CDs.

 

Please tell me a little about every member ,age,family, interests and something bad about every one?

-I'm 25 and touring and writing music is everything to me.The other guys are a little older and are into motorcross,tattoos and other fun shit.
 

I saw you back in time in a small club in Gothenburg as a support act to NOFX, do you remember that(not me but the gig)?

-I totally remember that show! That was on our first european tour in 94. I remember the night before we got into Gothenburg and saw Running Wild play the same club. God I love metal.

 

Do you remember every gig you have done(how many have you done)?

-Not really. There's many shows I do remember but I think I've played over 800 so they start to run together after a while.

 

Which are the difference on your music if you compare your music from that time until now?

-We'll we have all gotten much better at our instruments and our stage presence.Jason is a better singer now and we're more comfortable on stage.

 

You have a more mature sound I write in my review? What about that?

-Yea I think we have matured and become better songwriters.

 

And I also compare you to No Fun At All, comment on that?

-I guess we're fast like them, but thats the only simalarity I can hear.

 

Which other bands does people compare you with in reviews?

-When we first started people would say we sounded like like NOFX or Bad Religon, but to me thats just lazy journalism. I think you can hear
our influences, but we're doing our own thing.

 

Do you care about reviews?

-Not really, but it's nice to read good ones.

 

Which is the most peculiar review you ever got?

-Some Idiot said we were SKA.

 

What´s the most peculiar thing which have happened on a concert with you on stage or in the audience?

-Once we played at a gay bar for 200 transvestites.

 

What is the most pecuiliar thing which have happened in your history as a band?

-Having our ex-bassest punch out our drummer, twice.

 

What drives you to play music?

-Music has always been very impotiant to me. to get the chance to create it with my friends is a dream come true.

 

Please describe your own music in three words?

-Inovative, reflective,beautiful.

 

What does the word punk meant to you, is it only a word or what?

-I think it should mean doing what you believe in, in the face of opposition.

 

What do you know about Sweden?

-I know you guys make safe cars, have hot girls, and think Marijuana is evil.

 

Have you heard any good bands from Sweden?

-I know about Refused, Randy, Millincollin. I love The rest is silence from Randy.

 

How is Fat Wreck as a label?

-We love Fat. It's awsome to work with people you trust who really like your music.

 

How is a good concert with you,w hich is your strength as  a liveband?

-I think a good concert is high energy, good sound, and alot of kids.

 

How does the typical Strung Out listener look like?

-Your average skater kid for the most part. We are drawing alot of hot girls these days though.

 

Is there any good bands in USA right now?

-I'm really into Thrice, Rise against, and Finch

 

If you could choose five band from the past and from now to have a concert with you ,which five bands would you choose?

-Ozzy, Metallica(circa 1988), Decendents, The Misfits, and Van Halen(circa 1984)

 

Please rank your five favourite records, five best concertts you have been to and five most important things in life?

-I really don't know.

 

First, last and the most expensive record ever bought?

-My first was Michal Jacksons Thriller, The last was Weezers Green album, And most $ was some bootleg Metallica Live album I bought for $50 when I was 15.

 

Which is your best CD except from the latest one do you think?

-The Element of Sonic Defiance.

 

Which song does people almost want to hear on a concert with you?

-People always ask for Matchbook,Bring out your dead, Firecracker.

 

Do you do any covers on stage, if you do which?

-We do Bark at the Moon and Every breath you take

 

What´s the fun with playing covers? And what does a cover good?

-I get to pretend I'm Randy Rhodes.

 

What do you think about the new way to communicate with email and interenet and all that?

-I think it's great, it's connected alot of people to some cool stuff'.

Futureplans for you a s a human being?

-Just to hang out with my beautiful girlfriend.

-Just to tour as much as we can and keep growing.
