M from the Sick List is a girl who wants to be heard and seen and she does good advertisement for herself. Their music is really good and I really want to hear more. She answered my questions in august 2007.

When and why did you start to play?
-I was a performer outta the womb it seems... always the one searching out the spotlight at even the smallest family affair. hahaha... my love for music  was instilled in me at a very young age by my  parents.  My mother sang jazz and my father played the piano, both none professionally. I started with the piano at around 10 and started singing at around 14 in a school for the arts....

Please tell me a little about every member in the band, age, family, interests, work and something bad about every one? Both new and old members? What do they do nowadays?
-Our drummer Viveca Butler: Family: As far as I am concerned my family is pretty unusual both my parents are from England but migrated to France where I grew up. Both my parents are artists and musically inclined. Interests: I live and breath for music and was always somehow driven to percussion instruments (piano etc..) which eventually lead me to the drums as a late teenager. I also skateboard and practice other sports like snowboarding, mountain biking and skiing.. Work: I have been working for the past two years as a freelance translator in different technical fields. Someting bad about me: I get way too wasted haha
Mark Wheeler our bassist...Family: They live in Tennessee.....is that enough? Interests: Pop Culture, Mathematics, Sexual Positions, American Presidents Work: I work at the National Kidney Foundation as a Kidney Wrangler Something weird: my balls are incredibly ticklish.
Jay Bandel our guitarist:
I like music, playing in front of crowds, captain morgan, sleeping, and girls, not necessarily in that order...
Eric Kirshner our 2nd guitarist:
family - yup, good people. interests - tele-skiing, skateboarding, surfing, and Maja iIarsson.

Something bad about every one?
Viv - she could beat me up
Emily - she wishes she could beat me up
Jay - all i have to say is hairspray
Mark - likes to get naked on stage

To be a girl in front of a rock/punK/popband , how is that?
-It's incredibly boss, ha. I mean I feel empowered as a woman, a force to be reckoned with... Kurt Cobain always said women were the future of rock and roll, I tend to believe that ;)

What does punk mean to you? Is it only a music style or is it a lifestyle?
-Punk is a lifestyle. The punk movement in the seventies started with the revolution of a generation against political issues and eventually manifested itself in music and fashion, but it always stemmed from the strength of opinion against the norm... We all have our own revolution inside ourselves.... thats where my punk spirit is born... my music is where it has grown to live.

Is there any good bands around?
-Yes, there are. Plenty. You just have to be selective and search them out and not rely on the media to constantly dictate and influence your inner voice to what is good.

When you do a song, which is most important, is it to have a good lyrics, a good melody or to have a refrain that people remembers?
-All three work together to create a "hook"... a catchy chorus that sticks in your brain like crazy glue ;)
