STEAM PIG-THE EARLY YEARS COMPLETE STUDIO RRECORDINGS 1996-1998(2CD DEADLAMB RECORDS DL59)

En riktigt mastig samling detta med 53 låtar i en box. Det är första kassetten från 1996 fram till låtar inspelade i juli 1997. En hel del sköna låttitlar eller vad sägs om Skins and punks and other breakfast cereals, Shannen Dohertys beaten foetus and Blame it all on scum like me och man förstår ganska snabbt att allt inte är allvar för gruppen.  Jag fick för mig att första demon hade med Charlie Harper men när jag läste texten igen så hette den ju Getting over the wall with Charlie Harper. Deras sound på den här kassetten(som numera är på CD då alltså) och de 15 låtarna är snabba punklåtar i någon slags streetpunkanda fast med lite mer humor. Att de femton låtarna bara skulle finnas på en kassett har nu Deadlamb tagit bot på med detta dubbel-cd-släpp. Jag skulle bara vilja säga att jag är väldigt glad att den finns på CD för de 15 låtarna är alla små punkklassiker i sig själva. Lyssna bara 2-minuterslåten In a confession box så fattar ni vad jag menar. Det är en stökig skiva helt klart men den är stökig på ett charmigt och trevligt sätt. Till och med Ramones-covers och på denna CD får vi även en Bangles och Wat Tyler-cover…så sköna.  Resterande låtar på den här CD 1 är demolåtar från Electra och Aungler Street DIT i Dublin. Jag älskar bara låten Trigger Happy med den sköna basslingan. En hit! Roadkill girl är ju en låt som fastnar mycket beroende på den sköna stilen.  Den andra CD.n innehåller sessions för Wy-id t´d double och Motörhead at 5 am plus tre låtar från Sun Studios som också ligger i Dublin. Jag märker redan i halvtid att jag bara älskar sådan här stora samlingar för det finns mycket att läsa och här får vi läsa om varje låt av detta snabbspelande punkband. Intressant att läsa hur de tänkte och det är när sådant här finns med i skivor jag förstår att man inte gillar Spotify och liknande för där får man ingenting sådant. I och för sig finns det inte på Spotify ändå! Andra skivan fortsätter på samma sätt med sin snabba punkrock och det är mer än charmigt tycker jag och här får vi låttitlar som Blame it all on scum like me, , Fail your bloodtest och Motorhead at 5am. Svårt att sitta still är det i alla fall när man lyssnar på deras musik och denna dubbel-CD är ett väl investerat köp om du väljer att köpa skivan för ni kommer inte att bli ledsna om ni gillar snabbspelad punk. Varför inte bli lite fattigare men bli 53 låtar rikare.. En riktigt skön och desperat version av Radiators from Spaces Enemies är ju hur skön som helst. Constitution hill är en annan låt som avviker från den vanliga stilen och är ganska kul den också. En fantastiskt rolig samling är det i alla fall. 18/9-2023

A really masty collection this with 53 songs in one box. It is the first cassette from 1996 until songs recorded in July 1997. A lot of nice song titles or how about Skins and punks and other breakfast cereals, Shannen Doherty's beaten foetus and Blame it all on scum like me and you quickly understand that everything is not serious for the group. I got the idea that the first demo had with Charlie Harper, but when I read the text again, it was called Getting over the wall with Charlie Harper. Their sound on this cassette (which is now on CD then) and the 15 songs are fast punk songs in some kind of street punk spirit but with a little more humor. The fact that the fifteen songs would only be on one cassette has now been remedied by Deadlamb with this double CD release. I would just like to say that I am very happy that it is on CD because the 15 songs are all small punk classics in themselves. Just listen to the 2-minute song In a confession box and you'll know what I mean. It's a messy record for sure, but it's messy in a charming and nice way. Even Ramones covers and on this CD we also get a Bangles and a Wat Tyler cover... so beautiful. The remaining tracks on this CD 1 are demo tracks from Electra and Aungler Street DIT in Dublin. I just love the song Trigger Happy with the nice bass loop. A hit! Roadkill girl is a song that sticks a lot depending on the beautiful style. The second CD contains sessions for Wy-id t'd double and Motörhead at 5 am plus three songs from Sun Studios, also located in Dublin. I notice already at half-time that I just loves such big compilations because there is a lot to read and here we get to read about every song by this fast-playing punk band. Interesting to read how they thought and it is when things like this are included in records I understand that you do not like Spotify and the like because there you get nothing like that. In and of itself, it's not on Spotify anyway! The second album continues in the same way with its fast punk rock and it is more than charming I think and here we get song titles like Blame it all on scum like me, , Fail your bloodtest and Motorhead at 5am. Hard to sit still anyway when listening to their music and this double CD is a well invested purchase if you choose to buy the album because you will not be sad if you like fast-playing punk. Why not get a little poorer but get 53 songs richer. A really nice and desperate version of Radiators from Spaces Enemies is how nice any time. Constitution Hill is another song that deviates from the usual style and is quite fun as well. A fantastically fun collection it is anyway. 18/9-2023

Detta är en skiva som kom ut 2000 första gången tror jag och nu får jag höra den en gång till 20 år senare. En trevlig upplevelse och den har inte åldrats någonting tycker jag för deras snabbspelade punk är lika bra som den var då. I Gunning Down at the birdmenfår de till och med in lite reggaetakter. Det som slår mig är deras långa låttitlar och det är ju bra för då blir de ganska ensamma om dem..Min favoritlåt på skivan är nog My Last idle Death threat som har många olika stilar i en tycker jag. Det ges inte många möjligheter till att vila mellan låtarna men det gör mig inget eftersom musiken är såpass bra och man vill bara höra mer hela tiden. En perfekt skiva att träna till eftersom jag har vinylspelaren i garaget  och lyssnar mycket på det när jag tränar och detta ger energi. Har ni missat denna grupp så tycker jag att ni ska ta er tid att kolla upp dem för det är verkligen värt det och de muntrar upp er helt klart och det behövs I dessa pandemitider. 25/2-2021

This is an album that came out in 2000 for the first time I think and now I get to hear it again 20 years later. A pleasant experience and it has not aged at all, I think because their fast-playing punk is as good as it was then. In Gunning Down at the birdmen, they even get some reggae beats. What strikes me is their long song titles and that's good because then they will be quite alone about them..My favorite song on the record is probably My Last idle Death threat which has many different styles in one I think. There are not many opportunities to rest between the songs but it does not matter to me because the music is so good and you just want to hear more all the time. A perfect record to train for because I have the vinyl player in the garage and listen to it a lot when I train and this gives energy. If you have missed this group, I think you should take the time to check them out because it is really worth it and they clearly cheer you up and it is needed in these pandemic times. 25/2-2021
