PSYCHOTIC YOUTH-HAPPY SONGS(LP-RED WEST PRODUCTIONS RWP 015)

Kommer nog alltid att hävda att Psychotic Youth är ett av Sveriges bästa band. Deras punkpoppiga surf är alltid bra och jag tror aldrig att de gjort en dålig låt i gruppens historia. Jag vet att sångaren Jörgen har ett politiskt sinne och han kunde med lätthet fått in mer politik i sina texter men han har valt att bara sjunga ”banala” texter som passar bra till deras musik. Skulle det finnas något politiskt här så är det väl dolt. Jag brukar ju tycka att man ska sjunga om ”viktiga” saker men i deras fall gör det absolut inget. Ni som har hört de förr kommer verkligen inte att bli besvikna på skivan och det är en bra titel på LP:n för glada sånger är det allt och det behöver vi verkligen i detta kalla och hårda samhälle. Så varför inte ta en halvtimme av ditt liv och känn dig lyckligt för det kommer du garanterat att bli av deras melodiösa musik. För er som aldrig hört dem så handlar det om Ramones i surftappning för att göra det lätt och så lätt är det inte men att detta kallas powerpop är väl egentligen den rätta benämningen. Det känns som om Jörgen sjunger bättre än någonsin också och det gör ju inte saken sämre. Att de snart har hållit på i 40 år tror man verkligen inte för kärleken till musiken är stor och inget tyder på att de ska skruva ner tempot……ett givet köp ännu en gång. 9/10-2023

I will always say that Psychotic Youth is one of Sweden's best bands. Their punkpoppy surf is always good and I don't think they've ever done a bad song in the group's history. I know that the singer Jörgen have a political mind and he could easily have got more politics in his lyrics but he have chosen to sing only "banal" lyrics which suits well to their music. Should there be anything political here, it is well hidden. I usually think that you should sing about "important" things but in their case it doesn't matter at all. You who have heard them before will really not be disappointed on the record and it ́s a good title on the LP because happy songs it ́s all and we really need that in this cold and hard society. So why not take half an hour out of your life and feel happy because you will surely be of their melodic music. For those of you who never heard them so is it about Ramones in surfstyle to make it easy and so easy it ́s not so easy but that this is called powerpop is really the right name. It feels like if Jörgen sings better than ever too and that doesn´t make the thing worse. That they have been on the road for 40 years you really don´t think because the love for the music is great and nothing indicates that they will turn down the tempo...... A given purchase once again. 9/10-2023

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH/CITY SAINTS-4 TRACK EP(SINGEL RED WEST PRODUCTION RWP-14)

 

Psychotic Youth är verkligen en grupp som är produktiva nuförtiden och att få höra de på Svenska trodde jag inte jag skulle få göra. Men här delar de singel med City Saints där de gör 2 covers var. Först ut är Psychotic Youth med sin otroliga version Dr Zekes Jag ska aldrig dö och det är sällan jag blivit så imponerad av en cover som av denna. De har lyckats få till ett eget sound på något sätt. Versionen av Lädernunnans No Rule är ganska lik originalet men Jörgens röst sätter sin prägel på denna låt med. Det känns som en guda gåva att få denna single och skaffar ni den inte så är det något fel på er. Då har jag inte lyssnat på City Saints ännu och de börjar med en av Sators bästa låtar I´d rather drink than talk som är ganska lik originalet men det gör inget eftersom det är en så förbannat bra låt och Chips och Kent medverkar också…På Du e plast medverkar självklart Blomman från Perverts och det är en uppdaterad version av den gamla låten. Jag föredrar väl Pyschotic Youths sida eftersom de har fått till det mest egna soundet men vilken bra plastbit detta är…. 24/5-2022

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH/CITY SAINTS-4 TRACK EP(SINGEL RED WEST PRODUCTION RWP-14)

Psychotic Youth is really a group that is productive nowadays and to hear them in Swedish I didn't think I would get to do. But here they share the single with City Saints where they do 2 covers each. First up is Psychotic Youth with its incredible version Dr. Zeke's Jag ska aldrig dö and it's rare that I've been so impressed by a cover as by this one. They've had their own sound somehow. The version of Lädernunnans No Rule is quite similar to the original but Jörgen's voice makes its mark on this song too. It feels like a godsend to get this single and if you don't get it, there's something wrong with you. Then I haven't listened to City Saints yet and they start with one of Sator's best songs I'd rather drink than talk which is quite similar to the original but it doesn't matter because it's such a damn good song and Chips and Kent also participate... In Du e plast, of course, Blomman from Perverts participates and it is an updated version of the old song. I prefer Pyschotic Youth's side because they have got the most own sound but what a good piece of plastic this is.... 24/5-2022

 Thank you Jörgen, I would like to say first. Psychotic Youth is Sweden's or perhaps the world's best surf punk band and they prove it as usual on this 5-song splitsingel. Psychotic makes three of the songs and it's full steam as usual. I love Jörgen's voice that fits so right into this kind of music. I don't know who made Hang Ten in the first place, but Psychotic Youth has made it their own. In the last song Kick out, Gunnar's organ gets to have a dominant part at the beginning and it gives a nice feeling. Not so much singing on it.  Now we turn the record around and there we find Kahuna Surfers and there are beautiful Beach Boys choirs and I love that group already after the first song. Their second song is written by Jörgen as I said and it is called Summer of love and on that song Camilla sings and it adds another dimension with a woman on vocals in fast surf punk..... a fantastic little single in stylish white vinyl... 21/2-2022

Att ABBA gör bra melodier vet vi ju alla. Att Psychotic Youth gör bra melodier  vet alla, Att Jörgen sjunger som en gud i powerpunklandet vet alla. Vad kan gå fel....ingenting egentligen. och det gör det inte heller. Med låtar som SOS, Supertrouper, Does your mother know och Mamma Mia gör de entre som ABBA-älskare och det är bra...riktigt bra!  Jörgens röst är lika bra som alltid och att ABBA var powerpunkare visste vi väl redan eller? Bra låtar blir ännu bättre med Psychotic Youth. De kanske vinner pris som mest politiska band men som ett av de bästa powerpunkbanden...de vinner de lätt och här får de hjälp av riktigt melodiska och bra låtar. En riktigt bra och kul coverskiva och får du att få tag på den, sumpa inte den chansen. Kom igen vad bra ni är!  Gruppen alltså....jaja ni också om ni köper skivan....30/7-2021

We all know that ABBA makes good melodies. Everyone knows that Psychotic Youth makes good melodies,That Jörgen sings like a god in powerpunkland everyone knows. What could go wrong .... nothing reallyand nor does it either. With songs like SOS, Supertrouper, Does your mother know and Mamma Mia, they make an entrance as ABBA lovers and that's good ... really good! Jörgen's voice is as good as ever and we already knew that ABBA was a power punk, didn't we? Good songs get even better with Psychotic Youth. They may win an award as the most political band but as one of the best power punk bands ... they win easily and here they get help from really melodic and good songs. A really good and fun cover album and if you get it, do not miss that chance. Come on, how good you are! The group I mean .... yes you also if you buy the record .... 30/7-2021

Detta är en skiva som kommer ut i endast i 165 ex och det är låtar som är inspelade för 30 år sedan och det är låtar jag hört innan och låtar jag inte hört så för den inbitne Psychotic Youth-diggaren är det inte mycket att tveka över för detta är musik som ni borde ha. Fem låtar från denna session och detta är när powerpunk är som bäst. Att vi har en grupp som Psychotic Youth i Sverige som har levererat powerpunk/surfpunk i över 30 år är fantastiskt.Kul att höra dessa gamla inspelningar och jag har svårt att sitta still när man hör de här låtarna. Denna skiva kanske blir svår att få tag på och om ni får chansen ska ni helt klart ta den för det här är kulturhistoria. En låt som Nina som inte finns på Spotfy..den är värd alla pengar. Kort men naggande god Detsamma gäller Back on the sunnyside och köper ni denna skiva så blir ni inte besvikna.....Man vill bara leva, dricka öl och ha det gott! 30/7-2021

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH-THE BELLEVUE TAPES(SINGEL-SNAP RECORDS FUN-704)

This is an album that comes out in only 165 copies and these are songs that were recorded 30 years ago and these are songs I heard before and songs I have not heard so for the die-hard Psychotic Youth fan there is not much to doubt for this is music that you should have. Five songs from this session and this is when powerpunk is at its best. That we have a group like Psychotic Youth in Sweden that has delivered powerpunk / surfpunk for over 30 years is fantastic. Fun to hear these old recordings and I have a hard time sit still when you hear these songs. This record may be difficult to get hold of and if you get the chance, you should definitely take it because this is cultural history. A song like Nina that is not on Spotfy..it is worth all the money. Short but nibbling good, The same goes for Back on the sunnyside and if you buy this record you will not be disappointed ..... You just want to live, drink beer and have a good time! 30/7 -2021

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH/TOMMY AND THE ROCKETS-SCANDINAVIAN FLAVOR(CD-SNAP!! RECORDS FUNCD 063)

 

Ett av mina absoluta favoritband i Sverige är ju Psychotic Youth och på senare år har de varit väldigt produktiva. Här är det en splitskiva med danska Tommy and the Rockets och där de spelar covers. Psychotic Youth spelar bland annat Misfits, Bo Diddley och New Musik och Tommy and the Rockets ger sig på låtar av Pointed Sticks, Nick Lowe och en av mina favoritlåtar Back of my hand med The Jags. På CD är det två extralåtar och det är jag ju glad för eftersom jag fick den.Psychotic Youth är bra på att göra covers för de får de att låta som egna låtar och mycket är nog Jörgens röst som har mycket med det att göra. Att höra Psychotic Youth göra Misfits Where Eagles dare är magiskt….Men en av mina favoritlåtar med PY är Action som är en riktigt rockrökare. Psychotic Youth är en grupp som alltid gör mig glad och det blir inget undantag på denna splitskivan. Svårt att sitta still såklart…och det ska man inte göra ….New Musiks gamla hit Living by Numbers gör sig verkligen i powerpopstil…Tommy and the Rockets är lite tunnare i sitt ljud, I alla fall inledningsvis i Listen to the heartbeat. En riktigt bra låt är Pointed Sticks Out of luck som fått en riktigt fin powerpopkostym här. Kul också med kvinnlig sång i Kim Wildes gamla Chequered Love och det är två bra grupper på den här skivan som gör covers av gamla låtar men Psychotic Youth vinner alltid i min värld men Tommy and the Rockets gör mig glada de med. 11/2-2021

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH/TOMMY AND THE ROCKETS-SCANDINAVIAN FLAVOR(CD-SNAP!! RECORDS FUNCD 063)

One of my absolute favorite bands in Sweden is Psychotic Youth and in recent years they have been very productive. Here it is a split album with Danish Tommy and the Rockets and where they play covers. Psychotic Youth plays Misfits, Bo Diddley and New Music and Tommy and the Rockets play songs by Pointed Sticks, Nick Lowe and one of my favorite songs Back of my hand with The Jags. On CD there are two extra songs and I'm happy about that because I got it. Psychotic Youth is good at making covers because they make them sound like their own songs and a lot is probably Jörgen's voice that has a lot to do with it. Hearing Psychotic Youth do Misfits Where Eagles dare is magical… But one of my favorite songs with PY is Action which is a real rock smoker. Psychotic Youth is a group that always makes me happy and there will be no exception on this split album. Hard to sit still, of course… and you should not do that… .New Music's old hit Living by Numbers really does itself in power pop style… Tommy and the Rockets are a little thinner in their sound, At least initially in Listen to the heartbeat. A really good song is Pointed Sticks Out of luck which got a really nice power pop costume here. Fun also with female singing in Kim Wilde's old Checked Love and there are two good groups on this record that do covers of old songs but Psychotic Youth always wins in my world but Tommy and the Rockets make me happy they too. 11/2-2021

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH-FOREVER AND NEVER(CD-WATERSLIDE RECORDS W5221)

 

Det har väl inte gått förbi er att jag tycker att Psychotic Youth är ett av de bästa banden i Sverige genom alla tider. Och nu har de blivit riktigt produktiva också så det är kul. Jag fick CD-versionen av Jörgen och den har två extralåtar och sådan är ju alltid trevligt och det fick man ju nästan alltid förr på CD-versionerna. Jörgens röst och körerna bakom är Psychotics signum och skulle man blanda Ramones med Beach Boys och tillsammans med detta blanda in Barracudas och Vapors så är det ett typexempel på hur gruppen låter…eller kanske inte. De låter ju Psychotic Youth för fan och det finns inte många eller ingen grupp som låter såhär förutom PY. En av Sveriges bästa…eller kanske världens bästa grupper har gjort det igen. De gör musik som man blir glad av och man kan inte sitta still och varför ska man göra det. Det är en massa hitlåtar som kommer som på ett radband precis som det brukar göra och jag kan inte tänka mig att någon skulle ogilla det här. Kalla det punk, kalla det powerpop, kalla det surfpunk ….det är skitsamma för det jag kallar det är för jävligt bra musik! Kul med grupper som inte blir sämre utan håller samma kvalité som de alltid gjort och ändå från Some Fun har det varit högklassisk musik. 23/10-2020

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH-FOREVER AND NEVER(CD-WATERSLIDE RECORDS W5221)

It has probably not passed you by that I think that Psychotic Youth is one of the best bands in Sweden through all time. And now they have become really productive too so it's fun. I got the CD version of Jörgen and it has two extra songs and such is always nice and you almost always got that before on the CD versions. Jörgen's voice and the choirs behind it are Psychotic's hallmark and if you were to mix Ramones with Beach Boys and together with this mix in Barracudas and Vapors, it is a typical example of how the group sounds… or maybe not. They sound like Psychotic Youth of course and there are not many or no group that sounds like this except PY. One of Sweden's best… or perhaps the world's best groups has done it again. They make music that makes you happy and you can not sit still and why should you do it. There are a lot of hit songs that come as in a row just like it usually does and I can not imagine anyone would dislike this. Call it punk, call it powerpop, call it surfpunk… .it's shit the same because what I call it is too damn good music! Fun with groups that do not get worse but keep the same quality as they always did and yet from Some Fun it has been high-class music. 23/10-2020

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH-21(CD-TARGET EARTH WS 190)

 

Jag vet inte vad 21 betyder men det kanske är en mental ålder eller vad vet jag för det är väl inte deras 21:a skiva….Att höra en ny skiva med Psychotic Youth är alltid ett underbart tillfälle. Jörgen har en röst som smeker oss medhårs och melodierna är alltid så fruktansvärt bra och jag tror säkert att han skulle kunna skriva låtar till vem som helst i världen och de låtarna skulle bli världshitar. Men nu är jag glad för att han ägnar sig till Psychotic Youth och den surfpunk som de alltid gjort och som haft mig i sitt grepp sedan slutet av 80-talet. Jag anser väl att Some fun är en av världens bästa skivor genom tiderna. Denna skiva ligger inte långt ifrån Some Fun tycker jag och som sagt melodierna krossar det mest i motstånd och jag tycker det är en snyygg produktion och Jörgens röst ligger som en sammetsmatta över musiken och körerna sitter där de ska. Ska jag inte säga något som är dåligt….varför? Det finns inget som är dåligt med gruppen och jag tror alltid det har funnits det och jag tvekar på om det någonsin kommer att finns något dåligt med denna grupp för detta är yppersta världsklass hela tiden. Gunnar Fricks orgel i några av låtarna är fräck den med och jag skiter i er nu utan ska lyssna igen och sjunga med, dansa med och bara njuta… 24/1-2019

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH-21(CD-TARGET EARTH WS 190)

I do not know what 21 means but it may be a mental age or what do I know because it is probably not their 21st record…. Hearing a new record with Psychotic Youth is always a wonderful opportunity. Jörgen has a voice that really please us and the melodies are always so terribly good and I certainly think he could write songs to anyone in the world and those songs would be a world hit. But now I am happy that he is devoted to Psychotic Youth and the surfpunk that they have always done and who have had me in their grip since the end of the 80s. I think Some fun is one of the world's best records of all time. This record is not far from Some Fun I think and as said the melodies crush the most in resistance and I think it is a good production and Jörgen's voice lies like a velvet rug over the music and the choirs sit as they should. Shouldn't I say something bad ... why? There is nothing bad about the group and I always think it has been nothing bad there and I doubt if there will ever be anything bad with this group because this is the best world class all the time. Gunnar Frick's organ in some of the songs is cool  and I don´t give a damn about you now but will listen again and sing with, dance with and just enjoy… 24/1-2019

Jag rankar nog Some Fun som en av mina favoritplattor genom åren och då är det extra kul att lyssna till en ny skiva med gruppen. De gör inte borta sig, verkligen inte för här handlar det om poppig punk eller punkig pop som de är mästare på att göra. Snygga körer och melodier man blir jävligt glad av och jag tog med mig denna ut i garaget där jag tränar och det var ett ypperligt ställe att lyssna till denna skiva. Alla låtar håller hög kvalité och om inte denna platta går hem hos er som gillar melodisk punkig pop eller vi kanske ska kalla det powerpop så blir jag väldigt överraskad. Så skönt och befriande att höra dem och man hör att de verkligen älskar det de gör. Jörgen sjunger som en kung och resten av bandet körar så bra. Gör nu mer skivor för fan för nu när ni är här igen så släpper vi inte taget. 21/1-2017

I probably ranks Some Fun as one of my favorite records over the years and then it's extra fun to listen to a new album with the group. They do not something bad you can say, certainly not for this is about poppy punk or punk pop that they are masters at doing. Stylish choruses and melodies which i be damn happy when I listen to and I brought this out into the garage where I train and it was an excellent place to listen to this disc. All the songs are of high quality and if this record not going to be popular with those who like melodic punk pop or perhaps we should call it power pop so I will be very surprised. So nice and refreshing to hear them and we hear that they really love what they do. Jörgen is singing like a king and the rest of the banddo so good chosrus as well. Now do more records now that you are here again as we don´t release you this time. 21/1-2017
