Merle Haggard är en kille som verkligen spelar efter det han har lärt sig och det är väl därför skivan heter Roots. För här handlar det om traditionell country men den är riktigt bra och den här äldre gentlemannen vet vad han gör och han vet att han gör det bra. Det är inga stora pompösa arrangemang utan här är det enkla medel som gäller. Det gör att det blir lite punkigt över det hela trots att musiken är långt ifrån punk men texterna har väl många gånger samma beröringspunkter(SJU) 30/9-01

No not really maybe, it maye began with Dead Scouts and Disneyland after Dark which was mixing country and rock in a good way. Merle Haggard is a guy which really plays the things he have learned himself and there´s maybe this record it´s called Roots. Because it´s all about traditional country but it´s really good and this older gentleman really know what he does and he knows that he does it good. It´s no pompous musistyles here but its´ very easy things  he does and no exclusive things. It does that thing is a little like punkrock, not in the music way but in the attitude and the lyrics have many times the same things as in punkrock(SEVEN) 30/9-01
