CITY SAINTS-EVIL CONDUCT ON THE RADIO(SINGEL-SUNNY BASTARDS SBEP17)

En hyllningslåt till Evil Conduct av våra egna hjältar City Saints. Det är ju inte helt fel såklart och det finns mycket beröringspunkter till dem i låten men framförallt låter det City Saints och ni vet den där typiska streetpunken som de kör.Sedan såklart det later lite Ramones med tanke på hey-ho sjungandet.  Två låtar jag inte hört på baksidan också och det är Home Sweet Home som är en riktig rökare och den kommer nog att bli en mina favoriter och det är väl en cover av Evil Conduct precis som Never Let you down men City Saints förvaltar deras arv rikigt bra här tycker jag och jag tycker nog att City saints gör låtarna rättvisa och gör de till något eget även om det är riktigt bra låtar från början. Inget att tveka över utan ett givet köp! 12/4-2023

A tribute song to Evil Conduct by our own heroes City Saints. It's not entirely wrong of course and there are a lot of points of contact to them in the song but above all it sounds City Saints and you know that typical street punk that they play. Then of course it sounds a bit Ramones considering the hey-ho singing. Two songs I haven't heard on the back as well and it's Home Sweet Home which is a real smoker and it will probably be one of my favorites and it's probably a cover of Evil Conduct just like Never Let you down but City Saints manages their legacy richly well here I think and I think City saints do the songs justice and make them something of their own even if it's real Great songs from the start. Nothing to hesitate about without a given purchase! 12/4-2023

CITY SAINTS-PUNK & ROLL(2LP SUNNY BASTARDS SBLP156)

När jag först satte på den här skivan så fastnade jag för de svenska låtarna men efter några lyssningar så växer de engelska riktigt mycket och det är så mycket kärlek till punk när man lyssnar till dem. Man kan tycka det är mastigt med ett dubbelalbum men jag tycker de har gjort rätt. Vet ni inte hur de låter så kan ni tänka er Perkele blandat med gammal engelsk punk och lägg till det Troublemakers. Men skulle ni mot förmodan inte veta hur de låter så kanske det inte är någon idé attn i ens bemödar er med att lyssna för är ni punkare och har missat City Saints har ni missat en hel del svensk punkhistoria. Jag har tyvärr aldrig sett de live trots att de är från Göteborg men kan ju verkligen tänka mig att det är bra och kan tänka mig att låtar från dessa skivor är favoritlåtarna Gothenburg City, Life Goes on och Street Punk Rock n roll är favoriterna live. På den svenska sidan har jag fastnat för låtarna Prata inte med hat i munnen, Pappas lilla svin och Lördag. Ni som har varit med i punkens underbara värld redan från starten kommer att älska City Saints för det gör jag. Sedan tror jag att deras musik passar ganska många förutom punkare och att denna skiva är en bra inkörsport till den underbara världen för de som tycker punk verkar farligt!  KÖP FÖR FAN! 5/4-2023

CITY SAINTS-PUNK & ROLL(2LP SUNNY BASTARDS SBLP156)

When I first put on this album I got hooked on the Swedish songs but after a few listens the English grows really much and there is so much love for punk when you listen to them. You might think it's too much with a double album, but I think they've done the right thing. If you don't know how they sound, you can imagine Perkele mixed with old English punk and add to that Troublemakers. But would you not know how they sound, there may be no point in even bothering to listen because if you are punks and have missed City Saints, you have missed a lot of Swedish punk history. Unfortunately, I have never seen them live even though they are from Gothenburg but can really imagine that it is good and can imagine that songs from these albums are the favorite songs Gothenburg City, Life Goes on and Street Punk Rock n roll are the favorites live. On the Swedish side, I've stuck to the songs Prata inte med hat i munnen, Pappas lilla svin and Lördag. Those of you who have been in the wonderful world of punk right from the start will love City Saints because I do. Then I think their music suits quite a few besides punks and that this album is a good gateway to the wonderful world for those who think punk seems dangerous! BUY FOR FUCKs SAKE! 5/4-2023

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH/CITY SAINTS-4 TRACK EP(SINGEL RED WEST PRODUCTION RWP-14)

Psychotic Youth är verkligen en grupp som är produktiva nuförtiden och att få höra de på Svenska trodde jag inte jag skulle få göra. Men här delar de singel med City Saints där de gör 2 covers var. Först ut är Psychotic Youth med sin otroliga version Dr Zekes Jag ska aldrig dö och det är sällan jag blivit så imponerad av en cover som av denna. De har lyckats få till ett eget sound på något sätt. Versionen av Lädernunnans No Rule är ganska lik originalet men Jörgens röst sätter sin prägel på denna låt med. Det känns som en guda gåva att få denna single och skaffar ni den inte så är det något fel på er. Då har jag inte lyssnat på City Saints ännu och de börjar med en av Sators bästa låtar I´d rather drink than talk som är ganska lik originalet men det gör inget eftersom det är en så förbannat bra låt och Chips och Kent medverkar också…På Du e plast medverkar självklart Blomman från Perverts och det är en uppdaterad version av den gamla låten. Jag föredrar väl Psychotic Youths sida eftersom de har fått till det mest egna soundet men vilken bra plastbit detta är…. 24/5-2022

PSYCHOTIC YOUTH/CITY SAINTS-4 TRACK EP(SINGEL RED WEST PRODUCTION RWP-14)

Psychotic Youth is really a group that is productive nowadays and to hear them in Swedish I didn't think I would get to do. But here they share the single with City Saints where they do 2 covers each. First up is Psychotic Youth with its incredible version Dr. Zeke's Jag ska aldrig dö and it's rare that I've been so impressed by a cover as by this one. They've had their own sound somehow. The version of Lädernunnans No Rule is quite similar to the original but Jörgen's voice makes its mark on this song too. It feels like a godsend to get this single and if you don't get it, there's something wrong with you. Then I haven't listened to City Saints yet and they start with one of Sator's best songs I'd rather drink than talk which is quite similar to the original but it doesn't matter because it's such a damn good song and Chips and Kent also participate... In Du e plast, of course, Blomman from Perverts participates and it is an updated version of the old song. I prefer Psychotic Youth's side because they have got the most own sound but what a good piece of plastic this is.... 24/5-2022

CITY SAINTS-PÅ SVENSKA(LP/CD)

Än så länge har jag bara fått detta digitalt men den ska komma på både CD och LP. City Saints på svenska blir ju som att höra en fortsättning om en så modernare variant av GBG Sound och självklart finns då vissa inslag av Troublemakers men framförallt är det City Saints på svenska som är det stora. Det låter riktigt trevligt tycker jag och vi som var med på den gamla goda tiden(när nu den var?) drömmer oss tillbaka till spelningar på Errols och Sprängkullen och när punkband sjunger på göteborgska så blir jag väldigt darrig i knäna. Chips från Sator har producerat skivan och är med på gitarr på någon låt, Hasse från Sator är också med på någon låt och självklart göteborgspunkikonen Christer Blomgren från Troublemakers. Rock n roll är en av mina favoritlåtar på skivan och det är en riktig partylåt. Hoppas verkligen inte att detta är någon engångsföreteelse utan att de fortsätter att sjunga på svenska för det blir så mycket mer eget och texterna berör och är bra….lyssna bara på Tvär om punken…fortsätt så här! 7/3-2019

CITY SAINTS-PÅ SVENSKA(LP/CD)

So far I have only received this digital but it should come on both CD and LP. City Saints in Swedish is like hearing a continuation of such a more modern variant of GBG Sound and of course there are some elements of Troublemakers but above all it is City Saints in Swedish which is that it is City Saints. It sounds really nice I think and we who were there in the good old time (when it was?) dream us back to gigs at Errols and Sprängkullen and when punk bands sing in Gothenburgstyle, I get very trembling in my knees. Chips from Sator have produced the album and are on guitar on any song, Hasse from Sator is also on some song and of course the Gothenburg punk icon Christer Blomgren from Troublemakers. Rock n roll is one of my favorite songs on the album and it is a real party song. Do not really hope that this is a one-off event, but that they continue to sing in Swedish because it gets so much more own and the lyrics touch me and are good ……just listen to Tvär about punkrock... continue like this! 7/3-2019

CITY SAINTS-GUNS OF GOTHENBURG(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-714)

 Göteborgs stolthet i streetpunkvärlden tillsammans med Perkele och några andra band kommer här med en ny skiva. Som vanligt är det mycket känsla, mycket melodier och texter som berör och då kan de handla om vettiga saker och det kan handla om fest och det spelar ingen roll för punkkänslan finns alltid där. Ibland småflirtar de nästan med 50-talsmusik, som Clash en gång i tiden gjorde,som i början på Mr Greed. Till och med en låt på svenska får vi denna gång och det är kul. Jag kan tänka mig att Clash, Rancid, SLF och Cocksparrer är grupper som gått varma hos medlemmarna genom åren. Jag blir jävligt glad av skivan i alla fall och gillar ni melodisk punk eller rättare sagt punk med bra melodier så är City Saints gruppen för dig! Jag tycker väldigt synd om de som missar denna skiva och kallar sig punkare. 17/8-2016

CITY SAINTS-GUNS OF GOTHENBURG(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-714)

Gothenburg pride in street punk world with Perkele and some other bands come here with a new disc. As usual there is a lot of feelings, very much melodies and lyrics that concern and may then be sensible things and it can be about party and it does not matter because the feeling of punk is always there. Sometimes they do small flirts with 50´s music, as Clash once did, as in the beginning of Mr. Greed. Even a song in Swedish, we get this time and it's fun. I can imagine that the Clash, Rancid, SLF and Cocksparrer are groups who have been hot among the members over the years. I'm damn glad of the disc anyway and do you like melodic punk or rather punk with good melodies so is City Saints the group for you! I feel very sorry for those who miss this disc, and call themselves punks. 17/8-2016

CITY SAINTS-GO AND DIE(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-143)

Tänk att Sverige har så många bra band i så många olika genres egentligen och då finns det ju City Saints också som är väldigt bra i klassen streetpunk.  Det roligaste med City Saints är ju att de också fått med gammal göteborgspunk på något sätt i sin Oi/streetpunk. Det är en hel del texter om punk och det känns att den är en viktig del av deras liv precis som den är i mitt liv. Utan den inget liv och det är så det känns för denna grupp också. Detta är en samling av låtar som har funnits bara på vinylsinglar etc och sådant gillar jag. Det är synd om de skulle missats på ett eller annat sätt för det finns många godbitar på denna skiva så jag räknar inte upp några speciella låtar utan det känns faktiskt som en helhet trots att det är en drös olika låtar. Gruppen är skicklig på att få till låtar som man vill sjunga med i och jag har aldrig sett dem live men kan tänka mig att det är vilda tillställningar. Kul med den akustiska versionen av I Got your nummer. 16/1-2015.

CITY SAINTS-GO AND DIE(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-143)

Keep in mind that Sweden has so many good bands in so many different genres really and then there is the City Saints also are very good in class street punk. The most enjoyable City Saints is that they also received with old gothenburg punk in any way in its Oi / street punk. There are a lot of texts about punk and it feels that it is an important part of their lives just as it is in my life. Without it, no life and that is how it feels for this group as well. This is a collection of songs that have existed only on vinyl singles etc and such like that. It's a shame if they'd missed in one way or another because there are many goodies on this record so I do not anticipate up some special songs, but it actually feels like a whole even though there are a bunch of different songs. The group is adept at getting to the songs you want to sing along with and I have never seen them live but can imagine that it's wild times. Fun with the acoustic version of I Got your number. 16/1-2015

CITY SAINTS-KICKING ASS FOR THE WORKING CLASS(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-119)

Debutskivan för City Saints kommer tillsammans med en DVD och på CD-skivan är det 12 låtar med titellåten Kicking ass for the working class som tecken på hur det skall låta. Jag åker snart till London och hinner nog inte titta på DVD.n innan men jag tycker det är viktigt att få ut denna recension innan jag åker. Jag fick ju andra skivan först och nu kommer alltså en recension på förta skivan. Vad som slår mig är att Full Metal jacketz är en grupp som jag tänker på ganska mycket när jag hör inledningen…go rock n roll punk med engelska texter. I Gonna Ball tycker jag mig höra en touch av Undertones också…fräckt. Så ganska snäll punk snackar vi om här men jag tror säkert att den mest hårdnackade punkaren kommer att gilla detta också. Chips har hjälpt till lite grand och även producenten Kristian Antilla…. De tackar band som Cocksparrer, Lemmy, Olga(Toy Dolls) och det säger en hel del om hur de låter…Det låter riktigt bra….8/7-2014

CITY SAINTS-KICKING ASS FOR THE WORKING CLASS(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-119)

The debut album for City saints, together with a DVD and the CD is 12 songs with the title song Kicking ass for the working class as a sign of how it should sound. I'm leaving soon to London, and has time enough not to look at DVD.n before but I think it's important to get out this review before I go. I got the second disc first and now will be a review on the first disc. What strikes me is that Full metal Jacketz is a group that I think about quite a bit when I hear the introduction ... go rock n roll punk with English lyrics. In Gonna Ball, I think I hear a touch of Undertones too ... nifty. So pretty please punk we're talking about here but I think surelyt the most stubborn punk will like this too. Chips have helped a little bit, and also the producer Kristian Antilla .... They thank the band Cocksparrer, Lemmy, Olga (Toy Dolls) and it says a lot about how they sound ... It sounds really good .... 8/7-2014

CITY SAINTS-BLUE COLLAR SONS(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-135)

Den här gruppen kommer från Göteborg och det har ju alltid funnits bra punkgrupper här. Kul också att det alltid har funnits en stil av grupper som har Status Quo, AC/Dc och den lite enklare stilen av rock n roll som förebilder och vi har alltid varit lite enklare och rakare här än om vi jämför med Stockholm, Malmö etc när det gäller punk. Detsamma gäller för City Saints och det som slår  mig är att om de hade sjungit på svenska så hade det säkert varit som ett modernt Gbg Sound eller något liknande…En underbar liten skiva måste jag säga och att det är en riktig CD gör det ännu bättre och helt klart en skiva som kommer att spelas mycket även om jag kan tänka mig att en del recensenter och förståsigpåare kommer att tycka att musiken är för enkel. Men det skiter jag i för här finns det mycket känsla och kärlek till punk, streetpunk etc och då skiter jag i hur enkelt det är utan jag går mer på känslan…..26/5-2014

CITY SAINTS-BLUE COLLAR SONS(CD-SPIRIT OF THE STREETS SOTS 2-135)

This group comes from Gothenburg and it has always been good punk groups here. Glad also that there has always been a style of groups that have the Status Quo, AC / DC and the simpler style of rock n roll as role models and we have always been a bit simpler and more direct here than if we compare it to Stockholm, Malmö etc when it comes to punk. The same goes for City Saints and what strikes me is that if they had sung in Swedish, it would have probably been like a modern Gothenburg Sound or something like that ... A wonderful little record, I must say and it's a real CD makes it even better and clearly a disc that will play much although I can imagine that some reviewers and pundits will find that the music is too simple. But I do not care for this, there is much feeling and love of punk, street punk, etc., and then I do not care how easy it is but I go more on feeling ..... 26/5-2014
