I sent off an interview in July 2023 and now in mid-October 2023 I got it
back....but the one who waits for something good as they say... Paradigmer
answers the questions here.
Please tell us a little bit about the history of Paradigmer? Please tell me
a little about every member, age, family, earlier bands and some fun facts
about every one?
-It all started with that Blank (drums) was eager to play 2 takt again,
looked around a bit and after a while he came in contact with Palme (bass)
who in turn already had discussions about starting a band with the first
guitarist (Tony). So we decided to meet, everything felt good, we went on
for a while, then there were a few changes on the guitarist side, until we
found Mogge and after that we have felt comfortable with that lineup.
Palme 55, bass and vocals. Four grown-up children, single and likes to grow
chili. Have played music on and off since I was 14 years old so it have been
a lot of bands, Piskad Senap, Ingenting, Diagnos Arg and others.
Blank 40, drums and backing vocals, engaged and 2 kids. Have played in a lot
of bands but the latest bands were Gulzot and Charlie Skaville. Likes to
collect car tracks from the 80's – 90's.
Mogge 42, guitar and vocals, single,
has almost always played guitar, but not in bands since high school. I've
had a driver's license for almost 20 years, but haven't driven a car for 15
years.
The name Paradigms, where did it come from? Do you have any special thoughts
with that?
-We got a gig together with Köttgrottorna shortly after we had formed, so
there we were nameless and a gig booked. After the proposal "Palmegruppen"
was voted down, the guitarist at the time (Tony) came up with the name
Paradigmer after having a bit of a focus on the word paradigm, so we felt
that we can take it and there is no special thought with it, more than that
it is a word that actually does not exist.
How is it to play this type of punk/hardcore in Sweden today?
-Above all, it ́s hard to reach out in the "noise", you ́re overwhelmed with
information about other bands and all kinds of other shit. But otherwise
it's probably pretty good, it doesn ́t feel like there are so many bands
which do the type of punk that we do.
Which type of audience do you draw live?
-Is a little different, but a lot of punks of the older kind, but we see
that it shows up a lot of younger people and it ́s fucking fun that the
scene gets a rejuvenation.

You have done a CD now? Was it obvious to release a physical record?
-Yes, this release was a bit of a matter of course to release in some
physical form.
You sing in Swedish most of the time or, have you done any song in English?
-No, we only do it in swedish, it feels more honest and then if the truth be
told we ́re too bad in English for it to be good.
Tell us a little about the following songs
Slagen och spottad:
It's about a woman who has been bullied and abused all her life.
Unfortunately, most people know a person like this, but you might want to
close your eyes, focus on something else instead, so we felt like bringing
up the subject in a song.
Hockeykillen:
As the text says "when he was young, he was good at sports, but never got
reached" is also taken from people that we perceive to be in society, they
hide behind a "sporty façade" because they were sporty when young, but today
they have sick fucking stale values... But they were good at sports when
they were young, so they get away with it in some fucking way.
Förr fanns du där för oss:
It's about people who don't stand up for their ideals and values. In the
past, these stood up for completely different things than the blue-brown
shit they spew out today. Sure, you change over the years, but to completely
change your mind about most things is for us a big mystery that we don't
really understand.
Tell me a little about the following records and what you think about it
today.
-First record you bought or got?
Blank: Bought Mega dance 2 with my own money in 1992, it was hot for quite a
few years of my childhood, I still have it today, made me realize that music
can affect you on many different levels (even if it's only eurodisco)
Palme: Sweet : Strung up, was the first record I got around -77 have it
still today, and I still play it.
Mogge: I think my first record I bought for my own was Kenneth and the
Knutters "Stor,stark o vacker (Stor,stark o beautiful)when I was in 3rd
grade
-The album that changed your life?
Blank:Must have been when I came across the Burning Heart compilation Cheap
Shots 1, I had heard the bands that were in vogue (Green Day, Offspring) but
that record was really an eyeopener for me.
Palme: Two albums it was, Ebbas first and Pistols first, bought them at the
same time, and I was saved at once
Mogge: The double album "Ny våg" and Ebba Gröns "Samlade singlar" turned my
life upside down in a wonderful way.
-Last album you bought?
Blank:Mascara snakes – Fullständiga rättigheter
Palme: Är aldrig en ep, a split-LP från Grönpeppar rekords
-The album you ́re ashamed of?
Blank:Kent – Isola
Palme: Unfortunately I can't think of anything
Mogge: Can't think of anyone I'm ashamed of
-The album that makes Paradigmer sound the way you do?
Blank:Would like to say Asta kask – Aldrig en LP
Palme: Agree with Blank
Mogge: I agree with Palme and Blank about Asta's "Aldrig en LP".
-The album that always has to be in the tourbus?
Blank: Ingemar Nordströms - Saxparty 12 It ́s nice to have a break from all
the shouting punk.
Palme: Beppe's godnattsagor
Mogge: Motörhead's "Bastards" gets to ride the tour bus with me.
-The album you would have liked to have been on and played on?
Blank: Misfits – Walk among us, music history, more needs to be added.
Palme: GBH, City baby attacked by
rats
Mogge: Turbonegro-Apoclypse dudes-perfection through and through.
Is there any other good bands in Sweden today which you think is worth
mentioning?
-All the nice punk bands around the country, is too many to mention and
probably we will forget half of all the ones we want to mention.
You release your records yourself? No interested record label?
-Yes, it have (unfortunately) been so, we haven ́t had the energy to talk on
any label, and then it ́s no one who have contacted us and then we have done
everything ourselves instead.
Many people release music only digital, is it something for you?
-Our first 2 releases were digital, but we felt it was sad not to have
physical records, so the last 2 releases are in physical form.
What does punk mean to you today if you compare with when you started to
like punk? And how did you came into the wonderful world of punk?
-For us today, punk is the right to express yourself as you want and be
yourself. I think everyone discovered punk in their early teens in different
forms. Today we feel that punk was more dangerous in the past (even in the
90 ́s) today we ́re more odd who still listens to punk.
Politics and music, does it always go hand in hand? Or name any bands you
like which isn ́t political? Which is the best political band? –
We think it's hard not to be political, so music is often related to
politics. Would be Misfits which isn ́t so political and then we all have a
love to Sten&Stalin.
Who made the cover? Is it important to have a cover which describes what
type of music it is?
-The latest cover is designed by Håkan Eklund (big praise to him). No, not
the cover itself, but we want our logo to give a hint of what it's all
about.
What ́s the best thing with playing live?
-To get feedback from the audience and to meet new people.
If you had the chance to become prime minister for a week, what would be the
first thing you would change?
-We would turn the tables and the richest people would have to pay much
higher taxes and not have a lot of benefits which the workers don ́t have.
How do you think it is to live in Sweden today with politics, NATO,
musiclife etc? How do you see on how Sweden is developing politically, what
can we do about the idiots?
-Worrying and frightening with those who govern Svea today, NATO we don ́t
want to be in, the musiclife is good but can always be better, the
development in Swedish politics have gone back in time, can they continue so
have we no democracy left, the most frightening is that it is so many who
think that the country will be better with these at the steeringwheel, Make
sure they get voted out. Which is the biggest band you have played together with? -It must be Trubbel and
Gatans Lag.
Which bands are you being compared to when you get reviews? Which is the
most odd thing that you have been compared to and you don ́t understand at
all?
-Can't remember that we've been compared to any band, only that we sound a
lot like 80's HC,
Which three words describe your music?
-No fuss, just punk, became four words
Is it many interviews? Boring or fun?
-No, too little interviews, no but it ́s fun.
Strangest question you ever got? (except for this one)?
-It's probably this
Futureplans for the band?
-More gigs and release more. Play more out, no booked gigs right now, and of
course we will release more.
For yourself?
-Peace on Earth
Today's word of wisdom?
-No, have you ?
