MAD PIGS

Czech Republic haven´t given me so many records with bands from there in my collection. If I think about it so is this maybe the first group which have a record in my collection. Mad Pigs is among the best ones there so Martion which is singing in the grooup answered me in the end of october on some questions.

History?

-We are spiky band from Czech Republic based in second biggest city called Brno. We started to play in 2001/2002 and until now we had some members changes. Now we are a 5 piece band. We have released two CD´s . One is split CD with the japanese band TOM AND BOOT BOYS and the second is a 6 song CD. Now we are working for next album as well.

Please tell me a little about every member, age, family, work, interests and something bad about every one?

Pavel: Guitarist, he is 20 years old, he is really the biggest fan of Simpsons and Futurama as well! He is a really great guy and like street bands like Virus, Unseen, Casualties, Antidote etc. Ex Member of DETI SNETI

Masa: our bassist. He study medicine and he like crust/trash music. He is 21 years old.Ex member of JUGERNAUT

Gala:Really big fan of guitar and metal music genius! His life is music! Ex member of JUGERNAUT

Sam: is the drummer and the oldest member of the band – 27 I think. He played also with Scarecrow and played long time in legendary local band ZEMEZLUC.

Martino: I´m the singer. 21 years old. I´m a really big recordcollector and big fan of UK82!

I´m a promoter of gigs here in Brno and making afanzine called FOR THE PUNX. Ex member of DETI SNETI.

My review of your record is like this MAD PIGS-MAD PIGS(MINI-CD TIGER RECORDS TH-001) These Czech band does a Dischargecover. Otherwise they do songs both in English and in Czech…they have also 4 videosongs on this record. You can understand really fast which type of music this would be but it's really wellplayed and it feels like if the punk is more true in this type of countries because the eastern countries haven´t had it so easy through the times. The music is fast hardcorepunk and many people would call it crustpunk maybe but somewhere between Exploited and GBH lands Mad Pigs.(SEVEN) 17/10-06

Is there any other bands you´re being compared with?

-I´m not sure if we being compared but good are GUIDED CRADLE from Prague PNS from Prague are good too, but they sound pretty same like the Casualties.. Or ZEMEZLUC from my city is very good. I really love the clever lyrics of them! From HC is there some really good bands like BETTER WAY or JEDNA KREV.

Next good bandis DEGRADACE but now they sound very RNR. Ex drummer from DEGRADACE is now playing in band called PROTI SMERU.

FLAMING COCKS, FESTA DESPERATO, SEE YOU IN HELL. There is some very good bands are in Slovakia.

Do you care about reviews?

-Yeah Sure! I think reviews are VERY important for all bands! Because when some band is unknown somewhere and somebody like you wanna help them, reviews are very imporant because people can recognise some new bands from some different countries. Reviews help me too find some new good bands!

How is it to play this sort of music in Czech republic?

Hmm good question! I think that people listen to it more often than we started to play. Not many bands play same sort of music like Mad Pigs but we have many friend-bands here in Czech so its not á problem to get gigs.

How would you describe your music in three words?

-SPIKY-CLEVER-PUNX hehehehehe

How is it to live in your homecountry?

-I like it here. Somethimes hate, but so is it everywhere. We have a good punk scene here – better than for 5 years ago. Now there are some good punk bands. My city is really poor when we talk about the punk scene but in Prague it´s better to be a punk rocker or to be in  aband. But I dont want to move from Czech.

What about the government?

-Now is here  a fucking crazy situation and everybody wants only money and power for themselves.  I´m crazy about some politics here because we live in democracy state and some horsefuckers dont want to understand what´s “democracy“ means…

Do you think that music and politics goes hand in hand?

-Yeah sure! I think that every real punk have political opinions, because everyday in our lives is influenced by politics. Everyday happens some shit what that we can use in our lyrics. And to sing about beer and girls is fucking boringJ

Best political band?

-Czech: ZEMEZLUC

Rest: CRUCIFIX, AUS ROTTEN, TOXIC NARCOTIC, DISCHARGE

And globaly most of bands from age of Reagan, M.T. or Bush are or were good!

Is there any good bands in your homecountry now?

-Yeah I  like some crusties: FESTA DESPERATO, SEE YOU IN HELL, GUIDED CRADLE or from hardcore BETTER WAY.

What do you know about Sweden?

Not so much information man, I know that you have or in the 80´were a very good punk scene. My daddy´s  going every year to Sweden for championship in skiing and he told me that you have very nice nature there.

Have you heard any good swedish bands?

Yeah: I love bands like: Arroganta Agitatorer, Asta Kask, Anti Cimex, Bristles, Disarm, Dom Där, Ebba Grön, Moderat Likvidation, Sötlimpa, Sabotage 81 and Black Uniforms! If somebody have some more old swedish bands please write me to my email, Thank you: chaos82@seznam.cz

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or is it a lifestyle?
-For my its a lifestyle as well! It´s my opinion about all things in my life! It´s my way how to live my live and to react in life situations. It´s not only a image, it´s s way how to be satisfied.

.Hahahaha maaaan -  I really dont know! But half a year ago I clear my records and I get one full box of stupid records for saleJ There was many stupid bands that I can´t listen to anymoreJ

How can I get your CD with Tom and the Bootboys?

When do we see your next CD, is it the same sound??

-I don´t think so, because now we have different line up – new singer, new drummer, second guitarist. We are still Mad Pigs but we sound a lot harder – not crust but more like Discharge or Broken Bones. But I think that we´re still the same Mad Pigs as before. I dont like it when bands directly change their sounds for example Chaotic Alliance from US.

Is it many interviews? Is it boring?

-No way, I like interviewsJ

Which is the question you never get, please ask it and answer it?

-WuaaaJ Are you woman or man? Hmm nobody can be sureJ hahahaha

 Is it any chance to see you in Sweden soon?

-Actualy nobody have asked us for shows there and it´s a pity because I love Sweden and I would like to play there. But we haven´t any contact with promoters there. I hope that after this interview some promoter will try to make some shows for Mad Pigs there because I´m sure it will be some amazing times.

Where is the best place to play?

-Everywhere where it´s fun and people who wants to enjoy the show. I really like Movimento in Wien or all shows in El Diablo – Hradec Kralove.

 
The name where does it comes from?(yeah it´s a boring question but it´s interesting)? ?

-Mad Pigs – First our name was Schweine revolution. Soon after that we changed name to Mad pigs because we are really mad pigs. We hate boring parties with boring people, we like wild parties and make stupid fun, so hella yeah WE ARE MAD PIGS.

But the name of band can mean something else for different people, for example in goverment there are Mad Pigs too, but it´s  different means of the words of course.

You sing both in english and in your own language, why?

-Because in the start of Mad Pigs we did some songs in english because it was better for our music. But our english is not so good and the music is too fast so we start sing in czech too because is better for the music, but now the new songs is in english again.

What shall we do about all rascists? Is it a big problem in your country

I hate all racists but in everyone of us it´s little percent of racism to somebody. It´s pity but true! Because people in city make your opinion. But I really hate globally all racists, fascists and communists!

The best band in punkhistory? And in the czech punkhistory?

-Worldwide: Discharge – 80´

Czech: Zemezluc and HNF

 

The most important punksong?

.I have tons of important punk songs so it´s hard to say which is more important than another song.

Futureplans for the band?

-We would like make next CD and EP soon, and some European gigs too to support our new CD and hope that we get some Sweden gigs too!
