Kronofogden ended 2024 with the best Swedish
hardcore LP of the year, which was released by
Flyktsoda. They also start Skruttmagazine's
interview year 2025 and this took place in early
January 2025.
You come from Hudiksvall, it feels important for
you to carry on the legacy of MIssbrukarna. Have
they been a big influence for you?
-Both yes and no I think. Missbrukarna are a
real bang band and a big influence you can
probably call them, especially in the cases of
Johan and Arvid. They have kind of kept up all
the time in the way that we for example recorded
one of their songs early in our own history and
now in recent (like 7?) years they have also
gigged sometimes here and there, we have shared
the stage a couple of times and become friends.
So now it's up to Missbrukarna to carry on their
own legacy again, they have proven themselves
capable of that, so make a new record now gobbar!!
Tell us a little about each member, age, band
next to it, family, band before and something
"secret" about each member?
-Arvid Karlsson - Singer, 39, plays with
Nerverna and Fried Fruits, has a kitty named
Snor and he has a live-in friend who is an adult
and one who is just a child. He has had many
bands, I probably forget something but make a
try: DTG(punk), Fallande lök(punk), Tage
Böcklingz(Onkel Kånkel-tribute), Snickeriet
(hip-hop), Surikata(reggae), Bängmans skalpell (Flumrock)
Secret: Me and Henrik are going to start Eddie
Meduza coverband
Henrik Zacco, electric bass, 37, plays accordion
with the folk music band Tre ögon i bäcken, then
troubadours sometimes under his own name and his
own songs. Henrik lives with an insanely large
family in the hippie collective Ljusbacken in
Delsbo, but if you look a little closer, he also
has parents and siblings (e.g. his brother
Mille). Earlier in his life, in the long long
ago, he played guitar/vocals in the rock group
Twin Towns, later he gender-rocked the pants of
the Hälsinge audience in the band The Hunks and
Henrik also played in Bängman's skalpell and
Surikata.
Secret: Has played punk bass in Kronofogden for
over 15 years but still doesn't have his own
bass.
Mille Zacco, drum set, 35, plays one of those
hand drums with his big brother in Tre Ögon i
Bäcken. He lives in a forest with a fun kid who
belongs to him and they belong to each other.
Milles' past sins include b.la Findoob (punk),
The Hunks, Norrhoga Deathfuckers (grind??!),
Mañana Attitude (punk).
Secret: Is only 175 cm tall
Johan Ek, electric guitar, 33, plays drums in
Gefyr, does not live in Delsbo like the others
but in Njutånger with his partner and dog.
Played in Objuden Gäst(punk), Locker Room
Lovers(garagerock), Harkrank(punk), Bängmans,
Argast i stan and a couple of other short-lived
projects.
Secretly collects hedgehog figurines.
Andreas Åhs, electric guitar, 29, has started to
fill in with a second guitar in the band. Has
been seen on stage with Gefyr, Harkrank and his
solo project Förnimmelser.
He has a secret that is so secret that I hardly
dare to write it out, he is a bit secret all the
time.
Kronofogden is a slightly odd name, how did the
discussions go when you came up with the name?
-Here's our most frequently asked question! See
if you remember the answer... Well, that's was
Arvid's idea, the name there. A bailiff was
historically an official under the crown whose
purpose was to keep track of a piece of land and
those who lived there. The bailiff extorted
taxes in the form of food and money from the
inhabitants and thus went around and made people
very miserable. It's fucking a rock-hard name,
obedience or starvation it means!
How do you think Punksweden lives on today?
-Yes, it lives up in between, right? I don't
have anything to complain about really, the big
cities have both hardcore guys with studs and
hardcore ninjas with puff pants. Maybe a few
ladies and younger people? We won't even go into
the small towns... Oh damn it's good anyway on
second thought! It lives thanks to The
enthusiasts who have the strength to pull the
load, there are a bunch of good old men and
women out there who take care of their things
flawlessly and we send them a warm hug, hello
hello! We probably choose to direct the
criticism at politics instead, difficult to get
the stage attractive and arouse the interest of
those who are not already involved if you can
hardly get a fucking rehearsal room through your
study association? Kids have a pretty limited
budget most of the time and can't afford to rent
a wardrobe for 4000 bucks a month to rehearse a
set that they have to perform in a moldy
basement. DIY is paradoxically difficult if you
have to do EVERYTHING yourself!
Favorite band right now from Sweden, from
abroad?
-Arvid: From Sweden: Far & son.
Overseas: Delco Mfs and Tokyo Lungs
Mille: Spakur and MGMT
Johan: Poromaa - no band but check out, nice
songs from the north!
Then the music abroad I will probably have to
choose some hard rock right now, maybe Manilla
Road?
Now you are releasing your new album
Lägesrapport, how does it feel? How do you think
you have developed?
-It feels damn good! We haven't released
anything in a very long time and the last 10 we
did was only four of our own pieces and four
covers so we wanted to come back with a message
and we have succeeded in that. A couple of the
songs have been simmering for quite a few years
but we got ourselves by the collar and wrote a
dozen new ones pretty quickly, it was a bit like
in the beginning again, one or two new songs
after each rehearsal - fun. But is it
developing? Hard to say, we have always tried to
make some sprawling and exciting songs. It's a
little harder and faster, isn't it? Yes, faster
and harder we have become, our punk goes like in
the tempo of time.
One of the songs is called "Min tur att skrika
nu" what is the idea behind this lyrics?
-It's about psychological violence in the family
You have been playing since 2009, what is the
big difference now 15 years later?
-It goes faster.
Which are the biggest bands you have played
with?
-Valentourettes? Oi Polloi? Discharge?
Missbrukarna!!
Please tell me the feeling for these five
albums?
-Because you pray kindly so.
a)Discharge-Why Quite okay anyway, it goes
pretty slow and you get tired after a couple of
bites but it still sounds pretty decent.
b)Anti Cimex-Scandinavian jawbreaker Quite okay
anyway, it goes pretty slow and you get tired
after a couple of bites but it still sounds
pretty decent.
c) Missbrukarna-Zoom In A Zombie Yes! Mutera!
Sexkontroll!! Dom ska få en läxa!!!
d) KSMB-Lika barn leka bäst
best
Studio album by KSMB, released in 1981. The
album is very different from the debut album
Aktion. The pure punk songs are mixed here with
melodic rock and even dub on "Jag är ingenting".
Tracks 2-6 are written by Johan Johansson, track
7 is written by Esteban Guiance and Michael
Alonzo, tracks 8 and 10 are written by Peter
Sjölander and Michael Alonzo and track 9 is
written by Johan Johansson, Esteban Guiance,
Michael Alonzo and Peter Sjölander.
e) Mimikry – Allas over
Johan
listened to Mimikry a lot in his teens and they
actually played in Hudik 2007(?) But that one
seems to be a bit newer. Fun with some lall from
Dalarna, they are a little behind us greetings
in BPM just hehe!
How do you think it is to live in Sweden today,
Tidö agreements, SD, High electricity prices etc
etc?
-Embarrassing, scary and useless. The
electricity is comparatively not that terribly
expensive in our zone e, always something.
If you were given the chance for a week to be
prime minister, what are the things you would
rush to change?
-Depose ourselves and give power to the people,
legalize poking the nose and free snus exchange
in a sterile environment as long as they use
white snus.
Do you buy physical records yourself or how is
it? Are there any good record stores in
Hudiksvall?
-Yes, that's exactly how it is!
Arvid is a big dealer, he probably has more
records than the rest of us combined. But I do
buy a real slice of flesh and blood in between.
We have Boa, a classic store that has been
around for a hundred years, they buy and sell
movies, video games, records, band merch, all
kinds of fun stuff. But Rolf Revålt has the
first choice thing when they get new records so
there is rarely anything left for the rest of
us... But definitely worth a visit! Then there
is a slightly smaller store called FX prints,
they sell printed matter, right? But also a lot
of records, they have a good structure in their
shop but mainly old rock and pop on the shells.
First, last and the most expensive record you
ever bought?
-Arvid - First: Nordman. Latest: En halv kokt i
folie. Most expensive: Crash course in
science-box
Mille – You didn´t give a damn
Johan - It's fun with records
Mille! First: We Are The Ark and Californication
I bought at the same time. Latest: New Mob 47
Most expensive: Forest - S/T
Who writes the lyrics?
-Arvid is diligent with the pen and knows most
of the letters, but Mille has soared up in
second place I think definitely. Johan and
Henrik - some lyrics but otherwise mostly riffs.
There was never any talk about singing in
English instead of Swedish? (Luckily it's in
Swedish)
-No, we have never talked about that. But we
have a song in English, The Hate, that's enough.
Just The Hate.
What is the strangest thing that has happened
during your music career, I mean when you have
played live, backstage or on your way to a gig
or similar?
-The Onkli klick girl and the gig at Langöya.
Plus a police raid in Horten. Norway ftw. On the
way to that Langöya gig we were going to camp on
the way to Oslo, we had borrowed a tent from
Slitis that he recently bought used and which he
certified was a damn good tent. "Like military".
The crux was that he sent us a sack of tents
without pegs and strings. Since the evening was
late, we simply had to use the tent as a blanket
where we lay on a grass field in the Torsby
area. Then there was a funny gentleman with a
backpack who showed his behind on stage at
Cyklopen, it cheered me up.
If you had to describe yourself in three
words... Who would it be?
-Hälsingland Hillbilly Hardcore
To do political songs, is it obvious or can you
have lyrics that are about almost nothing?
-Short answer: Yes you can have lyrics which is
about nothing if it feels fun or maybe
important. However, I think it was more common
in the past during the "punk era" 77-80 you
know.
Long answer: I was going to write an exposition
but it gets so babbling and rambling.
Which is the best political band and which band
is best at doing blaha-blaha lyrics?
-Rage Against the Machine > System of a Down
Interviews is there anything you like? Is there
too much of that commodity or too little?
-Damn, it's pretty fun! We've probably done a
dozen but it hasn't been overwhelming, if you
say so. However, you should have credit for this
interview, you have to scratch your scalp
between because the questions are difficult and
predominantly good. Would have been easier to
answer some of them face to face if you
understand? But we paint
out
where we can and hope it will be good enough for
you, Skrutto!
If you have a question you never get that you
want, ask it and answer it?
-No, I actually don't think so
The weirdest question you've ever been asked?
(except for this one)
-Previous in this interview, haha!
Do you play songs from all the records live, or
are there some you have gotten tired of? I don't
have Rid I Natt(How can I get it?)
-We still play songs from Rid i natt, even
though it has about 15 years on its neck.
Träl, Ingenting i hjärnan, Dimmornas tempel,
etc. Some "hits" you can feel a little bit tired
of in between but we have so many songs by now
that we can vary to infinity. If you want to get
hold of Rid I natt, it's probably the
second-hand trade that applies I'm afraid, it
wasn't made in so many copies and is very sold
out by now...
Which songs are the audience's favorites?
-Det finns inte mer and Dum i huvve(inte
arbetslös) usually goes home most of the time,
some fans who have been around for a while
usually want to hear one of the songs that Mille
used to sing.
Höj panten and Böckera
for example.
If someone paid for a four-song recording where
you "had" to record four covers, which ones
would you choose?
-We have actually done quite a lot of covers
already, among others Philemon Arthur,
Västerbrokören, Masshysteri, Totalitär, yes a
little bit of everything. Johan wants to play
Big Takeover of Bad Brains, Arvid wants to play
Batman of Dom viktiga skorna.
Futureplans for the band?
-New songs into the tile! We have a couple of
gigs also with just the right frequency planned
for the spring. We're going to play at home in
Hudik in February and then it's leaning towards
a STHLM/GBG weekend towards April, see ya!
For yourself?
-Cross-country skiing, work hard, same as
always, future as past.
Mille: "Surviving trickery and parenthood and
fishing as much as possible before death do me
part from the rod."
Words of wisdom?
-"The immorality which we blame, is practised
only by others" L. Hyland
"Anyone who doesn't work on it doesn't get the
booze either" Alejandro Fuentes Bergström
Something to add?
-Thanks for the word! Hello to our friends out
there, hope you're having a good time. Now we
storm 2025!! And buy our new record right away,
it's nice |
