Fabriken has been playing for a while, released
a lot of CD singles. They consist of members
from Rollands Gosskör and
Coca
Carola....it can not be anything but good. Check
out the interview below from October 2025.
You started playing together in 2012, how did
that come about since you had other groups also?
CS:Just in 2012 we didn't play in so many bands.
I very rarely played with Krymplings, and the
other bands lay fallow waiting for everything
that life does.
PT: We didn't have any other groups then.
Neither Rolands Gosskör nor Coca Carola were
active when the factory started.
ÅN:Me and Curre didn't have any direct bonds at
the moment, and it all started with I wanted to
make music on the computer and checked with C if
he didn't have any songs that were and littered.
He sent over two that I got started on, then I
think we both were a little surprised at how
right everything felt at once...
The current members, have you been playing
together for a while now or how is it?
CS:Right now Fabriken is 3 quarters from Rolands
Gosskör and 1/4 childhood friend as well has
been a substitute in Roland once upon a time. We
have been playing with the current constellation
since 20? Should have been late 18-19? Urban was
involved in recording Tortera which was released
in 20
ÅN: Curre and I started in 2012, Patrick joined
in the fall of 2017, and Urban joined January
2020.
UE:Was asked as the last member of the current
constellation to join just before Christmas
2019. At that time, I had barely held a guitar
in over 30 years, but felt that the offer
Sounded way too fun to turn down.
You have released a lot of CD singles but never
an LP, this is a conscious choice or has it just
become like that?
CS:It's probably completely unconscious. We work
quite slowly so an LP would take too much time
perhaps......
ÅN: I would say that it is deliberate, to record
a full-length with all that means in commitment,
time and money. Just to write 12-14 songs that
are something to have, and then record them...
time. Sometimes we barely put together a
rehearsal a week...
UE:Would say unconsciously... It has never been
discussed in a serious discussion.
Wouldn't an LP be nice to release?
CS:Very nice and very hard.
ÅN: That would be very fun, and as I said in the
answer before, demanding.
UE:Very nice, but extremely time consuming.
Do you play a lot live in this constellation?
CS:We are really bad at the live thing but we
will get much better.
ÅN: None of us have really had the energy to get
to grips with the booking part properly.
UE: Not at all as much as we would like
Do you play any of your bands' songs live when
you play or have you decided to not do it?
PT: We only play Fabrikenlåtar, the other bands
get to play their songs themselves. Roland's
Gosskör doesn't really exist, they only play on
special occasions like Beat Butcher's
anniversary and the like.
ÅN:We have never played other bands' songs,
except at our premiere gig at Debaser Slussen,
Stockholm. We needed to fill out the game set so
we threw in a Stiff Little Fingers song,
otherwise it has been a conscious choice to keep
the bands apart...
UE:No
Is there any difference in the audience when you
play with Fabriken or is it pretty much the same
types who come to your concerts as with your
other bands?
CS:Pretty much the same.
UE:N/A
You play punk, how has your view on punk changed
(if it has) since you cam into the wonderful
world of punk and first played punk?
PT: It hasn't changed at all really, it's the
same loving people and DIY spirit. There is a
greater age spread now that we have become older
and new young people have been added in a even
flow.
CS:Punk is not a style of music for me but a way
of looking at life and a way of life.
ÅN:The core of the feeling is probably the same
as when I first came into contact with the music
and the people around the music.
UE:Have no opinion... Good music is good music,
regardless of genre
What does punk mean to you, is it just a word, a
style of music or is it even a lifestyle?
PT: It's more of a way of being and thinking,
definitely not an actual style of music. If you
go on a Punk gala or a gig where several bands
play, there are as many music styles as It's a
band but the attitude and the core is the same.
ÅN: I'm probably quite sparing with that
expression, but of course it's in such circles
that you can find friends, new and old, so it's
more of an approach to everything you do in
life... than just an exterior.
UE: Music, energy and community
What ́s the best thing about playing punk?
CS:Playing is usually the best thing there is,
no matter what you call it.
ÅN: I've probably always played music, and it
can be amazing and disastrous, but you I want to
go back there regardless.
UE: The best thing about playing with Fabriken,
is that I get to do what I love together with
friends I've known for almost 50 years.
If you think back to when you had your first
gigs with your first band, What is the
difference with if you compare to playing live
today?
CS:We are so much better at what we do, which
doesn't necessarily mean that it's better.
PT: Today everything is much more professional.
We were all beginners when it all started, both
band and Ooganizers. Now everything works as it
should. The organizers have good stuff and
everything is organized, The same goes for the
artists. But I can still miss the "pioneer" time
when everyone was just happy to play and fix.
You take what you have, sleep on people's
couches, someone borrowed old vocal system and
handmade posters.// Patrick
ÅN:The biggest difference is probably that you
have become better at handling your instrument,
your sound and a stage, and that the organizers
nowadays are usually fantastically professional.
UE: In addition to the hairstyle, it is that you
work more with details and dynamics. You have a
greater understanding how to make it sound good.
What is the kick of playing live?
CS:The audience and our own expectations of the
result.
PT: Just playing together is a kick, then there
is an extra boost of adrenaline when you play
before people. If you get a good response even
better.
ÅN: I've
probably always been more excited by those who
stomp the beat a little discreetly with their
foot, than those who throw themselves headlong
off the stage and roar, - Play faster. It is a
wonderful feeling, if it arises, that other
people like what you have put together yourself
in the rehearsal room, it's big.
UE:It's just so damn fun
Is it easy to get gigs with a band like Fabriken?
Do you think it helps That you have been in the
bands before that you have been in?
CS:It's pretty easy but it has to work
logistically as well, which can make it
difficult.
ÅN:I don't think it seems like those who like
Coca or Rolands, automatically come and check on
us, so it's not obviously helpful, but it's
clear that many people are Curious about what we
have done after the previous bands.
UE:Have no answer
What's the weirdest thing that ever happened
during a concert with some band that you've been
a part of?
CS:There are so many strange things that I need
my own book for that.
PT:With
Rolands Gosskör- At an early concert with
Roland's, someone threw up a couple underpants
that landed on the drum kit. I was very happy
and felt like Tom Jones.
ÅN: I don't remember any particularly strange
oddities than the usual oddities.
UE:Nothing has happened that I find strange.
How do you think it is to live in Sweden today,
with the Tidö parties, high food and electricity
costs etc etc?
CS:I don't think it matters much where you live.
There's so much shit going on throughout the
whole World. We continue to try to make it
better for everyone where we live.
ÅN: I haven't lived in any other country, but I
think we're relatively well off in Sweden... But
we need to keep a little track of what our
politicians are up to, because things can
changes, rights are removed...
UE:The world is ruled by maniacs and idiots...
The same applies to Sweden.
Are there any really good bands in Sweden that
you don't think everyone has heard of.
Which you would like to recommend?
PT:Strikt, Krigsstigen, Hyrda Knektar, Världen
Brinner
ÅN:Elefte timme, Satuestatues...
UE:Hyrda Knektar, Power grid failure
Who does the songs, the lyrics?
CS:FABRIKEN
Tell us a little about the following songs –
-Glömda själars land
-Gudinnornas Gudinna
-Återtåget
UE:3 real splashers
Who has done the cover of your new album "Glömda
själars land"?
CS:Åke is our AD.
Is it important to have a cover that shows what
type of music you play?
CS:No
PT: No, our covers have usually been a bit
desolate and gloomy and we really hope that the
music is not perceived as such
ÅN: It is not important to see what music is to
be delivered, but it is important to covers, for
me, I know that not everyone cares, but for me
it is and has always been important with the
presentation. It should convey a feeling, not
necessarily the same as music, but it can't be
too far away either because it gets weird, but
it has to be keep a line, through images and,
colors and style.
UE: No, I don't think so, but there must be a
thought and work behind it.
What is your absolute favorite cover of all
time?
PT:London Calling with The Clash
ÅN: I always get started on Never mind the
bollocks, Kiss Destroyer.
UE:I have to say "Born to run" with Bruce
Springsteen... love that picture
A lot of bands make their own beer and let it
out, if you did that, what sort would it?
CS:Faucet Water without shit.
PT: The beer was to be called "Strejk på
Fabriken" and it was to be a Bitter.
ÅN: Me and Curre have had discussions about
releasing our own water, completely without
frills, but under their own label, would be
interesting.
UE: It has to be called "Tappad som barn" and be
alcohol-free
Tell us a little about the following albums and
what you think about it today.
-First record you bought or got?
PT:Neil Sedaka "Emergence".
ÅN:Kiss Destroyer
UE:Meet the Beatles
-The album that changed your life?
PT:The Clash first
ÅN:Never mind the bollocks
UE:Born to run
-Last album you bought?
PT:Editors "EBM"
ÅN:Biffy Clyro Futique
UE:I don't remember that –
The album you are ashamed of?
PT:None!
ÅN: Absolutely none!
UE:There are none
-The album which makes Fabriken sound like you
do?
PT:Every album ever!
ÅN:Noring answer, but it's all the music I
listen to that colors how I play, write songs,
And by extension, how we sound together.
UE: There is no easy answer to that. We all come
into Fabriken with some relatively different
musical sources of inspiration... and that
mixture makes the flavor.
-The album that always has to be on the tour bus
or before you go on stage?
PT: We probably mostly sit and cackle when we
are out and about. Otherwise, it's probably new
music that we have fished up and want to share
with the others
ÅN:I say like Patrick, you want to share new or
old treasures (music).
UE:We like silence and old man rest... maybe P1
in the background.
-The album that you would have liked to have
played on?
PT:Clash first and Sweet "Fanny Adams".
ÅN: Yes it will probably be, again, Never mind
the bollocks.
UE:Darkness on the edge of town
Do you buy a lot of records yourself?
PT: I've gotten worse at it, but I always buy
new records by my favorite artists.
ÅN: I like records very much, to hold in my
hand, but I try at every impulse to buy a new
record, ask myself if I really need that
particular record, and I've gotten better at
deciding that you don't have to have all the
records you like, You have to settle for the
ones you think you can love, or are just very
curious about.
UE:Not anymore
Future plans with music? Hope there are plans
for even more albums to be released...
PT: We are working hard! There is always a pile
of ideas and songs that are processed in
Fabriken, it just have to get them up on the
assembly line and on to the packing department
for distribution.
ÅN: We have no plans to not play anymore or to
record, so expect it to come more music from us.
UE:Record and play out... as much as possible
Future plans with your life otherwise?
PT: Become a brisk and energetic drumming
pensions!
ÅN: To get better at things I'm not good at,
maybe try to bring my old bagpipes to life, the
could add some noise to Fabriken, it would
probably make many quite happy.
UE:Has a dobro guitar hanging on the wall. it
should be chastised and played on
Words of wisdom?
ÅN:Never stop being curious...
UE: Don't take it so seriously
Something to add
ÅN:Thank you for taking an interest in Fabriken |
