Dahmers comes from Kristianstad and plays some kind of punkrock and I love this group. Mikey (bass and vocals) is the one who answers the questions this time and this happened in May 2026.

You started in the early 2010s or how is it, what made you start playing together as a band?

-This was before my time in the band but we had some knowledge of each other already then. As I understand it, the boys were very bored. Since they had only been partying and watching horror movies since a very young age, they came to a point where it was no longer justifiable, which led them to start a band together. They also did not have the right physical conditions for employment at the IFÖ.

Have it been the same members all the time or how is it? Tell us a little about each member, age, band before or alongside Dahmers? What do you work on when you're not playing music?

-Due to confidentiality, not all information can be provided, but members and ex. Members as follows:

Karlsson (vocals and guitar, 2011-) Has the band No Tears alongside The Dahmers.

Karl-Oskar (Drums and vocals, 2011-) Previously played in Splitside. Has the band Dry Faces alongside The Dahmers.

Josef (Guitar and vocals, 2017-) Plays alongside The Dahmers in Middle Mantra. Previously in Killpiss.

Mikey (bass and vocals, 2021-) Plays alongside The Dahmers in Höaxes and Matawan, also in dormant Gamla Pengar.

Age (Bass, 2011-2020) Currently plays in Missiles, Löparna, Hjelle, and others.

Ralle (Guitar and vocals, 2011-2017) Currently plays in Hell's Gate.

The name Dahmers, I can imagine that it comes from Jeffrey Dahmer or are there any other stories about the name?

-It was between taking the name from the Canadian politician John Dahmer, the American civil rights activist Vernon Dahmer or the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, so the choice was quite easy.

You have many songs which contain the words Grave, Dead, Blood, Creep....is it mostly lyrics about "horrible" things?

-These are very grateful words that we have confidence in. We channel and process "horrible things" from a perspective that could be a model for a horror movie.

What do you think about mixing politics into music, do you have any political song?

-We don't think it's wrong to mix politics and music, The Dahmer's artistic expression has not been particularly politically colored. Privately, however, we are clearly to the left and all come from a punk background where politics has often been in focus. Obviously, we've mostly focused on horror themes both in music, lyrics and image before, but on the latest album we have, among other things, the song Braindead, which lyrically goes in a slightly different direction. The theme is the negative impact of capitalism and egoism on our world. Not impossible that there will be more on the same theme.

Are there any really good political groups?

-Yes, a lot. Randy, Tragedy, Dead Kennedys, Mattias Alkberg, Bad Religion, P.J Harvey, the list goes on and on.

Do you care about politics otherwise? What do you think about living in Sweden right now? What is best and what is worst?

-Yes, we think it is important to keep up with politics. We all live on the same planet and the decisions that are made affect everyone, unfortunately often negatively. The injustice of Swedish men with a Swedish appearance having it so biased makes it quite difficult to rejoice over how good we really have it, so the best thing is that the air quality is still relatively good. There is so much that is bad right now that it is difficult to list the worst, but the dismantling of the green transition, the decline of democracy and the fact that feminism is considered "woke" are some examples. The fact that "woke" is also used as an insult nowadays is downright embarrassing on an intellectual level. It is also regrettable that the current government does not understand that culture that does not sustain itself economically still has a value. With cuts in government subsidies as a result. The Dahmers stand up for the equal value of all people regardless of origin, gender or sexual orientation. We believe in democracy and are deeply concerned about the rightward shift that is taking place in large parts of the world, not least in Sweden. We oppose policies that only benefit those who already have the most. Unlike Sweden's and many other countries' right-wing governments, we believe in the scientists who warn of the consequences of the climate crisis and human impact of it. We believe that every country, regardless of size, should do its utmost to limit the negative development.   Religion is a fiction created to control people and thus should not have a role in modern societies.  Last but not least, we are always on the side of animals.

Good Swedish bands worth mentioning that we must not miss?

-Missiles, Blessings, The Arson project

The latest record Creature Feature you released yourself, is it better than being on a record label?

-There are both advantages and disadvantages to letting go on your own. It's nice to have as few people involved as possible, this is our thing as well. From a boring financial point of view, you initially have to make a larger investment yourself, but the purpose is to keep more of the profit later. We were really blown away by our previous record label where we despite several repressions of each record never reached break-even. We paid for the recordings and mastering ourselves but never got a penny in return.

Is it important to release physical records? Would it feel like you have released a record if it was only released digitally?

-It feels in some way like a financial statement when you hold the physical record in your hand. After all the time and energy that has been put into writing and recording songs, that feeling is important to us. The aesthetic is also a big part of the band, which would be lost without a physical release.

I have following LP/CD Demons, In the dead of night, Down in the basement and Creature Feature, you haven't done any other LPs? But a lot of singles (don't have any of these unfortunately), are there many of the singles songs that are just there?

-We have released three full-length albums, Demons, In the dead of night and Creature Feature. Down in the basement is a compilation album with all singles/EP's released up to that point. Since then, we've released two EPs, Witching Hour and Ghouls in the Garage.

Is there no thought of releasing all the single backsides etc as an LP?

-Not impossible that in the future there will be a Down in the basement 2.

How would you describe your music in three words if you were to describe your music in three words?

-Rock and Roll.

I can imagine that your music goes home abroad, have there been many foreign gigs? If so, where has been the best... Which country?

-We have been around a lot in Europe, which is not significantly different from Sweden, except that the food is often worse. One of the most powerful gigs we have done was when we opened for The Hives at L'Olympia in Paris. This was just when the pandemic allowed for a shorter pause in the lockdown, so people were extremely excited. The wings of history made us reverential in this historic concert hall, so much so that Kalle even sensed a fart Ringo Starr released in the 60s. Spain was good as hell, but the food sucked, especially as a vegetarian. The United States was very nice. We were there for three weeks and had many new experiences. Among other things, we visited the cemetery from Night of the Living Dead and the house from the Chainsaw Massacre. The fans were very hospitable and often offered both food and sleeping place. Fortunately, we avoided all the negative things associated with the United States.

Have you done many covers that you have released, if so which songs and by which bands?

Daniel Johnston - Man Obsessed

Do you play any covers live?

 –It happens, among others:

Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak

Status Quo - Little Lady

Dead Kennedys - Police Truck

Alice Cooper - Under my wheels

You come from Kristianstad, is it difficult to become prophets in your own city?

-No, it has been very easy. I, as an out-of-town resident, have even been given the city's key.

Which is the biggest band you have ever played with?

-The Hives, if you don't count festival gigs.

Which five bands would you like to have a big concert with, live like dead bands and if you could choose five of them all time?

-Reigning Sound, Little Richards, Napalm Death, Kiss and Misfits.

Ten favorite records of all time?

-Reigning Sound - Love and curses

Daniel Romano’s Outfit - Okay Wow (live)

Black Lips - Arabia Mountain

Randy - Welfare Problems

P.J Harvey - Let England Shake

Isolation Years - Inland Traveller

Archers of Loaf - Speed of Cattle

Radioactivity - Radioactivity

The Stooges - Raw Power

Hot Snakes - Audit in Progress

Do you buy a lot of records yourself?

-Way too little in recent years, it is mostly seven-inch at gigs.

When you listen to music, is it via Spotify, vinyl CD, cassette or what?

-Nowadays it is mostly via Spotify unfortunately, the agility and laziness wins.

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word, an attitude or just a style of music and how is your relationship to punk?

-Would say that punk has shaped me totally. Started listening and playing in punk bands in the age of 11-12 and have never stopped. All my values, whether it is political, about animal rights, environmental issues or compassion, they probably come in some way from punk. The Dahmers is in my opinion at least 60% a punkband musically.

Is there a lot of interviews, is it boring?

-Because of the risk of espionage, we don't do a lot of interviews. When we are aware of how easily manipulated but at the same time how paranoid we are, we try to keep it to a minimum. This is so that the trade secrets will not be leaked. Since the last album, however, there have been more. It's not boring, just difficult.

Which is the weirdest question you ever got (besides this one)?

-If I'm excited, answer: no. What I'm thinking of, answer: nothing.

Is there a question you never get but want to have, if so, ask it and answer it?

-Are you allowed to offer a drink, and maybe a biskvi? Yes please!

Futureplans for the band?

-Play live as much as possible and write new hits. In October-November we will go on a tour with Spiders. We will try to get out more in Europe in the future as well.

For yourself?

-Move out to the countryside and get a dog.

 Words of wisdom?

-Rock and roll will never die, it can only live.

Something to add?

-Always be kind to animals and take care of nature.
