Miss Chris Crash is a member of the tough punk/hardcore group Blest mess and here she talks about the group and tell me a little about the other members and other fun things…september 2014

Please tell me a little bit history of the group?
-In 2011 I decided to take my personal catalog of music and start my own band Blest Mess. I sing, play guitar, write the music, own the record label Street Urchin Records and manage the band. Blest Mess is my Demon Spawn and I like being the Boss Lady.

Please tell me a little about every member in the group right now, age, family, work, interests and something bad about everyone?
-Blest Mess is collectively 100 Years Old anyway you wanna slice it, factor 3 members into the equation and do the math ... Lol.
The band currently consists of myself Miss Chris Crash on vocals and guitar and Mr. Randi Stokes on Bass.  Sir Luke Deakin from Angry Itch (UK) was our guest drummer in England.
We are currently auditioning US Drummers for our US Tour, we are taking our time about it until we find Our Man.
I have nothing negative to say about past bandmates, they all served the purpose at that moment but I believe everything has it's time and place and as you grow as a musician/person the people around you will change. That's Just Life.

Blest Mess, how did the name came up?? Is it a good name? Which is the best bandname you know?
-Blest Mess is how I describe my music and life. I put the name together by combining these two definitions and have it tattooed on my lower back.
blest - highly favored or fortunate (as e.g. by divine grace) mess - a person whose life or affairs are in a state of
confusion (esp. a person with a confused or disorganized moral or
psychological outlook)

You have some different influences, mostly punk(Like Vice Squad) but some other stuff too(Plasmatics), am I right?
-We are heavily influenced by British Punk and American Hardcore, if you had tomake comparisons to other females than I am happy you choose to lump me in with Vice Squad or The Plasmatics. I do like them both. Beki Bondage has class and Wendy O had Massive Balls ... lol.

What´s the best thing with playing live?
-I love to exorcize my demons and connect with people. It feels good to throw a Temper Tantrum on stage.

And where is best to play?
-A gig is a gig as long as people show up to support all the bands for the evening then it will be a good night for everybody.

How is it to play this sort of music in England? (I would have been written USA there but it became a good question anyway)
Is it hard to get gigs?

-I am a Native New Yorker and I will be the first person to tell you that England is the Birthplace of Punk so naturally I was motivated to want to play there with Blest Mess. In 2012 I packed a bag , jumped on an airplane alone and made my connections. I didn't know a soul there.

How would you describe your music in three words?
-Angry, Aggressive, Organized.

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or is it a lifestyle?
-Punk is being your own person, dressing how you please and NOT trying to be so PUNK AS FUCK or whatever you wanna call it.
Some of these Punks spend more time in the mirror , they are Nauseating.

How do you see on downloading, mp3 and that stuff?
-People are going to find a way to rob it anyhow so I just give them free downloads and make it easier. Most of those people wind up buying merch.  Anyway from me cause they want something tangible that is signed.

How is it to live in USA now? Politically?
-I am an American Girl and Love My Country. I don't get into Politics.

Is there any good bands from USA now?
-Yes ...  The Blame (old School Punk) and Disma (Death Metal)

What do you know about Sweden?
-Swedish Meatballs !!! Yummy !!!

Have you heard any good bands from Sweden?
-At The Gates, The Perukers, The Bristles, The Nomads and yes I will admit to liking ABBA and Roxette.

Your lyrics, who does them and what influences you?
-Me. I write about people, life and experiences.

Is there any subject that you never will write anything about?
-We are a Non-Political Band. I want people to come to our shows and forget about their problems not remind them.

Politics and music, does it goes hand in hand?
-For some people maybe but not me. If I wanted to be a Politician I would have run for office. I find it hysterical how most of these musicians who scream about politics are actually Politicians themselves who are nothing but Rabble-rousers that stand on their Soap Box agreeing with Popular Opinion to further their own sick personal agenda which is to build a fan base. Such Hypocrites.  Not all of them but the majority of them.

Best political band/artist?
-One Way System, they were very innovative for the time.

Do you think that music(lyrics and so on) can change anyones life, I mean people who listens to music?
-Anything can change your life, but yes I guess so but people can interpret songs differently.

Are you doing any covers live?
-Sometimes we do if we have extra time but bash it up and do it our own way.

Can you imagine yourself doing a tribute song to a special football team, animal rights or any political party?
-A Sports Team ... sure.

Please tell me a funny thing which have happened during your career and under some gig?
-Getting to your show and finding out your bandmates got lost ... they always seem to find their way somehow. Good thing I know how to improvise. Now I make it a point to always travel together.

How does your audience look like? Which people do you miss on your concerts?
-Blest Mess seems to have an extensive following. I can honestly say Age 8 to 80. We have a lot of teenagers in Europe and South America that like our sound. It seems a lot of parents and grandparents like our Old School sound as well and drag children with them. They have told me I have influenced the girls to pick up the guitar.

Please rank your five favoriterecords, five favoriteconcerts and five most important things in life?
-Agnostic Front - Riot Riot Upstart, Black Flag- Slip It In, Minor Threat-Minor Threat and I will admit to liking Green Day- Dookie.
Concerts too many to mention. I like to have integrity, be a professional, be honest, have a work ethic and not take any shit from people.

Is it boring with interviews?
-You just woke me ... what did you just say Peter ?! ... LOL.

Which is the most stupid question you ever have got??
-Are you asking me to choose from the above 24 questions ? Lol, I am fuckin' with you Peter, get to know my sense of humor.

Do you understand that reviewers always compare bands to other bands? Is that disturbing when you try to something own?
-People need comparables especially when it is a New Band on The Scene.

Futureplans for the band?
-Touring The Rest Of Our Country and back to Europe and South America  in 2015.

For yourself?
-To continue growing as a Musician and being the Best Guitarist I can be.

Wisdomword?
-Let go of the people, places and things in life that no longer serve you and your growth. In other words just KICK THE TRASH TO THE CURB !!!

Something to add?
-Find out what you want in this life and pursue it because if you don't you will regret it.
