I got the new record from Adrian Recordings. Really good music and some feverish and intense rock. Coercion can happen is the wrong word, but interviewing the group felt obvious. Augsusti-2025

You were formed in 2018 or how is it, are they the same members then as now?

-No, we were actually formed already in the fall of 2015 and released the first EP in 2016. Yes we are the same as from the beginning, Micke (drums), Johan (guitar and vocals) and Robin (bass) but since last fall we have Anton Collinder with us on guitar as well. 

Have you had any other bands before or have other bands on the side right now? Tell us a little about each member?  

-Johan and Micke have played together in Brottskod 11 and Nervvrak before. 

Robin used to play in Grande Roses (where Johan was also in for a while) and now Robin has the project  Panama papers music department.

Anton has had a lot of bands: Terrible Feelings, Nightmen, Profoss and more and he has played/plays with Hurula and Per och Olof.

You are called punkrock but on the new record "Till ingen längre minns" I think that you go more towards indie, is it conscious or is it a maturation process?

 -Well we have always had poppy melodies. It's probably that we're now more open to being able to do songs that don't sound like what we've done before and have released ideas that we should sound in a certain way. That said, a lot is the same from the start. 

 You are aware that you have made one of the best records of the year, right?

-Oh thank you so much! I'm glad you like it. 

You are happy yourselves about the record, right?

-Yes absolutely we are satisfied, but there are always things you could have done better. 

When you play live, what kind of audience do you draw?

-I don't really know. It's mixed in terms of ages and subcultures and things like that, I would say. Really good audience anyway. It's probably a little different in different cities too.

What's the best thing about playing live?

 -To play for people who want to see us and just to meet. Just as powerful every time.

Your lyrics are quite short, is a lot about love on the latest record, happy or unhappy? What else inspires you to write lyrics?

-Well, if you boil it down to something, it's almost all about love in some way and about loss and how fleeting everything is. It's been that way since we started. Inspiration comes from life then and now.

It is like an incantation against the impermanence of all things. A wish that something can be permanent.  

-Odödliga 

With life comes events that change everything, including yourself, and teach you that nothing can be taken for granted. The song is about the time before those events.

 -Tills ingen längre minns

It's about the feeling of a home when those who lived there are no longer there. All the familiar feels wrong and almost eerie.

Politics and music are not for you?

-Yes we like many political bands. But for me, it has come naturally to write more personal lyrics if that's what you're thinking about.

What is the best political band?

-Coke bust.

While we're talking politics, what do you think it's like to live in Sweden today?

-Things are going in the wrong direction with most things, increasing inequalities, the public sector is being sold out, right-wing politics and racism are completely dominant. 

You release the record on Adrian recordings- is it a good record label?

-Yes it's great. We have been able to do exactly what we want and had great support since we started working together. 

You are also releasing your cassette/LP from 2018 on vinyl again, did many people have asked for it?

-Yes there are many who have asked for it and especially the last years when we have got a little more audience and it has been sold out. 

Is it important to release the records physically do you think?

-Yes, it feels important to have something to touch. Feels like an extension of the music with layout and things that make it bigger. Plus we like records ourselves.

Do you buy a lot of records yourself?

-Yes some of us and others none at all

Which is the record company you can always trust when you buy music?

-D-tak och  Råpunk.

First, last and most expensive record you ever bought?

 -Gyllene tider someone best of var it, Chicagojazzens latest, have never bought any particularly expensive record actually so can't figure out which one it could be. 

 The ten most important records of all time?

-Oh I can't answer that, I feel. But I can say some good ones I've listened to a lot that come to mind right now.  Ramones of course the first six albums even if there is gold later too, Misfits everything with Glen, Cortex - spinal injuries, Darkthrone - Transylvanian hunger, PJ Harvey - Let England shake, Coke bust - Degradation (an ep but still), the Swinging Addis collections, Hailu Mergias first, Wendy Rene - After laughter comes tears, Supremes mostly listened to some collection so bad track of the albums but Stoned love is a song I have listened to lately anyway. 

There are many really good bands in Sweden, say some that really need to be highlighted?

-Yes really. Per and Olof, El Parador and Snake. 

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word, a style of music or is it a lifestyle?

 -An attitude I think, DIY and that.

Is there a lot of interviews? Is it boring?

-No, it won't be that much. It's just fun. 

What is the most boring and weirdest question you have received?

-I don't know. I don't think we've ever gotten a particularly boring or weird question. 

Do you have a favorite magazine, music blog or similar that you really like?

-No, unfortunately not anymore, many people I liked have closed down. Of course there are many who write well but can't think of any particular magazine or blog now. 

Which bands are you usually compared to when you get a review? How does the most odd review you have received sounded?

-Hurula, Terra and Västerbron have been mentioned that I can think of. I can't think of anything odd actually.

Svart Katt.... How do you come up with a name like that? Hard to put yourself in any box when you see the name? Were there any other names that were suggested?

-It only appeared when we recorded the first EP and felt right and good. We liked that it's a bit neutral as you say. We had other ideas but none that stuck and that I remember now. 

 What are the future plans now for the band?

-Now when we release the record we want to play as much live as we can and preferably in new places so it feels fun with what we have booked in the future.
