OI POLLOI-20 YEARS OF ANARCHO-PUNK CHAOS!(CD-STEP 1 RECORDS STEP CD 169) Skotska anarcho-bandet Oi Polloi släpper här en samling som skall sammanfatta de första 20 åren. Vi får hoppas på 20 år till för Oi Polloi har berikat oss med många trevliga stunder genom åren. 23 låtar finns på skivan och det är både outgivet, svårt material och redan utgivna låtar. Som ett retrospektivt collage av allt de gjort. När man säger anarcho-punk tänker man osökt på Crass och likheterna med den gruppen finns i en hel del av låtarna. Vad sägs om låttitlar som Stop Vivisection now, They shoot children don´t they?, Hunt the rich osv och ni förstår ungefär var de ligger. Visst är musiken helt okej men det är texterna som är behållningen. Inget att tveka över…köp bara……nostalgi, punkhistoria…..bra musik.(SJU) 22/5-06

We will hope that they go on for 20 years more because Oi Polloi have given us a lot of nice times through the years. 23 songs is on the record and it´s both unreleased, rare material and already released songs. As a retrospective collage of everything they have done. When you say anarcho-punk I think about Crass and the similarities is a lot in many of the songs. What to say about sontitles like Vivisection now, They shoot children don´t they?, Hunt the rich and so on and then you can understand where they are. Sure the music is OK but it´s the lyrics which is the big thing. Nothing to think about……but it……nostalgia, punkhistory…..good music.(SEVEN) 22/5-06

OI POLLOI-FUAIM CATHA(CD-COMBAT ROCK INDUSTRY CRI 015) Skivan börjar med en väldigt rytmisk sak med lite Crass-undertoner och den är riktigt trevlig. När skivan fortsätter sedan är det verkligen Crass som är bandet de har lyssnat på eller, detta tillsammans med lite tuffare grupper. Måste vara en av de bästa politiska punkgrupperna just nu. Sångarna turas om att skrika/sjunga ut deras ord som känns förbannade. Musikaliskt ligger de någonstans mellan Discharge/Subhumans/Crass och det är ju inga dåliga grupper att bli jämförda med. Jag skulle nog vilja säga att Oi Polloi måste vare en av de viktigare grupperna just nu inom punkstilen och deras arga texter och låtar med titlar som Fuck Everybody who voted Tory,Religious Con, Your beer is shit and your money stinks är säkert låtar som kan uppröra folk idag.(ÅTTA) 19/8-04

OI POLLOI-FUAIM CATHA(CD-COMBAT ROCK INDUSTRY CRI 015) The record begins with a very rhythmic thing with some Crass-undertunes and that´s really nice. When the record continues it´s really Crass which is the band they have listened to or together with them tougher groups. Must be one of the best political groups right now. The singers is shouting/singing one after each other and it feels like they´re fucking pissed off. Musically they´re somewhere between Discharge/Subhumans/Crass and that´s not bad groups to be compared with. I would say that Oi Polloi must be one of the more important groups right now in the punkstyle and their angry lyrics and their angry songtitles as Fuck Everybody who voted Tory,Religious Con, Your beer is shit and your money stinks is surely songs that can uspet people today.(EIGHT) 19/8-04

OI POLLOI-ALIVE & KICKING(CDSTEP 1 MUSICSTEP CD 144) På framsidan ser vi bilder från Göteborgskravallerna 2001. Visst Oi Polloi är kravallmusik och jag ser de som ett band som skulle kunna ockupera hus, ha motdemonstrationer mot det mesta och då menar jag på ett positivt sätt. De skriver att de gett ut många liveskivor med dåligt ljud men det kan man inte anklaga denna skiva för att ha. Mycket bra ljud i de flesta av låtarna och det är såhär tuff punkmusik skall låta. Ytterst politiska Oi Polloi visar här hur en politisk skiva skall utformas och hur ilskan mot orättvisor kan visas i musik och handling.(SJU) 28/10-03

OI POLLOI-ALIVE & KICKING(CDSTEP 1 MUSICSTEP CD 144) On the front cover we see pictures from the Gothenburg demonstrations 2001. Oi Polloi is a demonstrationband and I see them as a band which could occupate houses and have antidemonstrations and then I mean in a positive way. They write that they have given out many liverecords with poor sound quality but that you can´t accuse this record for. Very good sound in the most of the songs and this is the way tough punkmusic should sound. Very political are they too and Oi Polloi shosw us here how a political record should be and how the anger against unjustice can be shown in music and in doing things.(SEVEN) 28/10-03

OI POLLOI-OUTRAGED BY THE SYSTEM(CD-STEP 1 MUSIC RECORDS STEP CD 139) Så här skall det låta. Minns ni grupper som Crass, Anti-System, Conflict och alla de andra anarkistiska grupperna som härjade i slutet och mitten av 80-talet. Det hoppas jag för det gör Oi Polloi med glädje. Här är texterna klart mycket viktigare än musiken och sångerna skriks ut med en desperation som saknar motstycke idag. Om man inte är politiskt insatt innan så blir man det nästan när man hör gruppen och jag tycker nog att Oi Polloi tilltalar mig mer än väl(SJU) 24/6-02

OI POLLOI-OUTRAGED BY THE SYSTEM(CD-STEP 1 MUSIC RECORDS STEP CD 139) This way it should sound. Do you remember groups like Crass, Anti-System, Conflict and all the other anarchistic groups which was going on in the late and mid 80´s. I really hope so because Oi Polloi remembers them with happiness. Here´s the lyrics much more important than the music and the songs are shouted out with a desperation which we don´t hear today. If your not politically involved you almost be that when you hear the group and I think that Oi Polloi really get me going(SEVEN) 24/6-02

OI POLLOI-UNITE AND WIN(CD-STEP 1 CD 132)Det är tråkigt egentligen att skin/oiband alltid måste förklara sig och verkligen bevisa att de är antifascister. På denna skiva ser man tydliga exempel på det i och med alla bilder och teckningar osv. Nu till musiken, ganska primitiv, skitig punk på sant engelskt vis och det är bara där den typen av skitiga punk finns. Inte alls så förfinat som den är i USA och framförallt känns det som om de verkligen är aga till skillnad mot i USA. Detta är deras första LP och det är väl därför det är lite primitivt och man hör till och med knastret. I låten Minority Authority känns det lite lustigt för det låter precis som en blanding av Exploiteds Dead Cities och Chaos UK:s Kill your baby(ÅTTA) 11/9-01

OI POLLOI-UNITE AND WIN(CD-STEP 1 CD 132)It´s very sad becaue oi/skinbands must be explaining everytime that they´re not are antifascists. On this record you see clear examples on that with all pictures and drawing on this record. Now to the music, which is really primitive, dirty punk in true english way and it´s only there that type of dirty punk is growing. Not so fine music as in USA and it feels like they´re really angry in England in a way which they aren´t in USA. It´s their first LP and therefore the primtive sound and you can hear the sounds from the old LP also. In the song Minority Authority it feels really funny because it sounds like a mix of Exploiteds Dead Cities and Chaos UKs Kill your baby(EIGHT) 11/9-01
