GIBBS, ALVIN- (LP/CD/DIGITAL TIME & MATTER TM 032)

Alvin Gibbs från UK Subs kommer här med en soloskiva och han får hjälp av Brian James från Damned, Mick Rossi från Slaughter and the Dogs, James Stevenson från Generation X/Chelsea och folk från Hanoi Rocks, Ruts DC, UK SUbs, Godfathers etc. Låter ganska bra tycker jag och man hör att det är en gammal punkare som lugnat ner sig lite och i Camden Town Gigolo tycker jag att man kan dra paralleller till TV Smith till exempel. Men inledningsvis tycker jag nog att man hör att det är inte så långt ifrån hans grupp UK Subs för det finns helt klart musikaliska influenser därifrån och det är ju inte så konstigt. Riktigt bra och punkig rock är vad Alvin ger oss och hans röst passar ypperligt in till denna musiken han spelar och det är lustigt att man inte hört mer från denna röst förut.  Dumb är nog låten so mest får mig att tänka på Subs och jag är nästan lite överraskad när det inte är Charlie som sjunger där men det gör absolut inget. Clumsy fingers är nog den låt jag inte gillar för annars är det 11 starka låtar i lite olika utförande men alltid med en kärlek för musik och i synnerhet punk! 7/1-2019

Alvin Gibbs from UK Subs comes here with a solo album and he gets help from Brian James from Damned, Mick Rossi from Slaughter and the Dogs, James Stevenson from Generation X / Chelsea and people from Hanoi Rocks, Ruts DC, UK SUbs, Godfathers etc. Sounds pretty good I think and one hears that it is an old punks that calmed down a bit and in Camden Town Gigolo I think that one can draw parallels to TV Smith for example. But initially I think you hear that it is not so far from his group UK Subs because there are clearly musical influences from there and it is not so strange. Really good and punky rock is what Alvin gives us and his voice fits in perfectly with this music he plays and it is funny that you have not heard more from this voice before. Dumb is probably the song so most makes me think about Subs and I'm almost a bit surprised when it's not Charlie who sings there but it does absolutely nothing. Clumsy fingers is probably the song I do not like because otherwise there are 11 strong songs in slightly different design but always with a love for music and especially punk! 7/1-2019
