GEFYR/RAT CAGE-SPLIT(SINGEL-FLYKTSODA FLYKTR 036)

Gefyr har ett sådant där skönt sound som Discharge hade väldigt tidigt och man översköljs av känslor av deras snabba musik på samma sätt som jag gjorde på tidigt 80-tal när Discharge kom gör jag här också när jag hör Gefyr och deras tre nya låtar. Jag älskar deras desperata sound och det är sjukt att man är över 60 år och ändå kan gilla sådan här musik tycker säkert många men ni som ni vet. Jag tror säkert att ni som gillar hardcore redan har hört gruppen men då så finns det inget att tveka över när det gäller den här skivan. Den måste införskaffas. Andra delen av splitten tillhör Rat Cage från England. Ett av de mest intressanta punkbanden i England just nu och deras sköna punk är sådär typiskt engelsk på något sätt som jag inte kan beskriva. Men tänk er Mau Maus, GBH och One Way System i en skön röra och ni har Rat Cage…tycker jag.   Trots det snabba soundet så är det en musik som faktiskt har mer melodier än man kanske tror. Jag skulle nog ranka de som ett av Englands bästa band just nu och hoppas att de kommer att få mer uppmärksamhet än de hittills fått.  Inget att tveka över och jag tycker att ni ska investera i den här skivan med en gång. 25/6-2024

GEFYR/RAT CAGE-SPLIT(SINGEL-FLYKTSODA FLYKTR 036)

Gefyr has one of those nice sounds that Discharge had very early on and you are flooded with feelings by their fast music in the same way as I did in the early 80's when Discharge came I do here also when I hear Gefyr and their three new songs. I love their desperate sound and it's sick that you are over 60 years old and still can like this kind of music surely many people think but you who know you knows. I think for sure that you who like hardcore have already heard the group but then there is nothing to doubt about when it comes to this record. It must be acquired. The second part of the split belongs to Rat Cage from England. One of the most interesting punkbands in England right now and their nice punk is so typical English in some way that I can not describe. But imagine Mau Maus, GBH and One Way System in a nice mess and you have Rat Cage... I think. Despite the fast sound it is a music which actually has more melodies than you might think. I would probably rank them as one of England's best bands right now and hope that they will get more attention than they have so far. Nothing to doubt about and I think you should invest in this record right away. 25/6-2024

Att Flyktsoda är ett av Sveriges bästa punkbolag råder det ingen tvekan om längre. Gefyr är ett band som kanske inte vinner pris som glädjespridare men kan säkert vinna pris för sina texter som är betraktalser av saker som är fel. Det är inga pekpinnetexter utan det är mer politiska texter som är lite inlindade och det ska de ha all cred för. Det går fort men det är inte på något sätt att det går för fort för man till och med hör texterna och det är klart att det förenklar med ett textblad men det behövs nästan inte. Ni förstår väl ganska snabbt hoppas jag att detta är käng, crust, d-beat eller kalla det vad ni vill men det är snabb musik med texter som är arga. En låt på engelska men annars är alla låtar på svenska och det uppskattar jag för svensk kängpunk ska sjungas på svenska tycker jag för då blir det en mer egen stil. Om ni aldrig har hört gruppen….vad ska jag säga då för att locka er. Anti Cimex och deras tidiga alster kan vara ett riktmärke som säger en hel del tycker jag. Gefyr har kommit upp som ett av de bättre banden i denna stil i Sverige. 13 låtar som verkligen kör över mig på ett underbart sätt och vill ni bli överkörda av musik så tror och tycker jag att ni ska bli det av Gefyr. Så denna första egna LP:n är en fullträff och fulländad lektion i hur ett svenskt kängpunkband “ska” låta! KÖP!!! 31/5-2022

GEFYR-LP(LP-FLYKTSODA 47 FLYKTR020)

There is no doubt that Flyktsoda is one of Sweden's best punk labels right now. Gefyr is a band that may not win an award as a joy spreader but can certainly win an award for their lyrics that are contemplations of things that are wrong. It's not pointer texts, it's more political texts that are a bit wrapped up and they should have all the cred for that. It's fast but it's by no means that it's going too fast because you even hear the lyrics and it's clear that it simplifies with a text sheet but it's almost not needed. You understand pretty quickly I hope this is crust, d-beat or call it whatever you want but it's fast music with lyrics that are angry. A song in English but otherwise all songs are in Swedish and I appreciate that because Swedish crustpunk should be sung in Swedish I think because then it becomes a more own style. If you've never heard the group...what should I say then to entice you. Anti Cimex and their early creations can be a benchmark that says a lot I think. Gefyr has come up as one of the better bands in this style in Sweden. 13 songs that really run over me in a wonderful way and want to be overrun by music, I think you should be by Gefyr. So this first LP of their own is a pure hit and perfect lesson in how a Swedish crust punk band "should" sound! PURCHASE!!! 31/5-2022

6 låtar av underbar svensk kängpunk är ju aldrig del och när Flyktsoda är inblandade så förstår man att det inte kommer att vara dåligt. Jag blev lite orolig när jag såg att det stod att det var inspelat live på Håstaholmen men det är ju inte live på det sättet som man tänker för ljudet är riktigt bra. Texterna är ju klart vänsterinriktade och det är ju tur det för den här typen av hardcore kan inte spelas av högermännsikor och inte med texter som de här. Men texterna känns mer intellektuella än många andras band.  Det är så befriande att det såhär långt efter att jag hörde Anticimex på Spränkullen för snart 40 år sedan så finns det ny band som förvaltar det svenska hardcore/punkarvet på ett ypperligt sätt. När jag skriver för nästan 40 år sedan så förstår man hur gammal jag själv börjar bli. Men likaledes gillar jag den här typen av kompromisslös hardcore och blir lika glad nästan varje gång som första gången jag hörde Discharge och trodde jag hade satt skivan på fel varvtal. Kanske inte något nytt precis och vi har hört liknande förr men jag blir aldrig trött på att höra nya band i genren och Gefyr hoppas jag lever länge för de är bland de mest lovande bland många band. 6 songs of wonderful Swedish kängpunk is never wrong and when Flyktsoda is involved, you understand that it will not be bad. I was a little worried when I saw that it said that it was recorded live on Håstaholmen but it is not live in the way you think because the sound is really good. The lyrics are clearly left-wing and it's lucky that this type of hardcore can not be played by right-wingers and not with lyrics like these. But the lyrics feel more intellectual than many others' bands. It is so liberating that so long after I heard Anticimex at Sprängkullen almost 40 years ago, there is a new band that manages the Swedish hardcore / punk heritage in an excellent way. When I write almost 40 years ago, you understand how old I myself am starting to get. But I also like this type of uncompromising hardcore and get as happy almost every time as the first time I heard Discharge and thought I had put the record at the wrong speed. Maybe not something new exactly and we have heard similar before but I never get tired of hearing new bands in the genre and Gefyr I hope I live long because they are among the most promising among many bands.
