Chon played in Loose Change before he started Love Equals Death and now he´s back in full attack and I really hope that many people is going to find this group. In the end of march 2006 Chon answered my questions

History?

-Love Equals Death started on Halloween night 2002. We came from other bands that were falling or had fallen apart. Dominic came from the most notable band and that was Tsunami Bomb. Me,Chon, I played in a band called Loose Change. Jade from AFI was our guitar player.

Please tell me a little about every member, age, family, work, interests and something bad about every one?

-We all range in age. I think our youngest member is 24 and our oldest member is old. We don't work much anymore as far as real jobs go, but we work our asses off on the stage. We all have brothers and sisters and moms and dads that support us. Dominic and me like comic books and skateboarding as well as video games and girls. Tonio likes working out at the gym, girls, and granola bars. Duffs likes to rock out with his guitar, text messaging, and his hair.

My review of your record is like this: LOVE EQUALS DEATH-NIGHTMERICA(CD-FAT WRECK FAT 710-2) These guys looks really horrible, as if they´re taken from a horrormovie. I thought at once that this was Misfits-punk it should be about but there I was a little bit wrong. A little more Offspring mixed with Social Distortion or something like that. Fast punk with much melodies but anyway a really "dangerous sound" and this is the way I want punk with distorted guitars and a fast drumsound and not too nice soundpicture. I almost dream back twenty years when I hear this. One of the best bands this year and one of the better bands on fat Wreck.(NINE) 10/3-06

What about it?

-I think your review is excellent!

Is there any other bands you´re being compared with?

-We have been compared alot to AFI, Alkaline Trio, T.S.O.L. and the Misfits. Oh yeah, and Billy Idol.

Do you care about reviews?

-I love reviews

Nightmerica, where did the name come from?

-The name Nightmerica came from an idea I had about a band name. Then it became the title for the album since we already had the name LED.

You don´t like America? How about that America always shall be involved in everything around the world?

-We all love America. We are just very sad at what it has become. I think America has enough of it's own problems. We as a country should focus on our own problems. We are so busy with everyone else that we are falling apart here at home. We are also making unnecessary enemies. We are supposed to be the melting pot for all races and people, but yet we still have huge racial issues.

Is USA the land of milk and honey?

-USA is the land of beer and cheeseburgers

What about Bush?

-Bush? I hate to talk bad about people, but he does make it hard. I just wish we could have elected a president who can spell the word "president". I'm not saying that I’m the smartest man on the planet, but I’m not running for president either.

Do you think that music and politics goes hand in hand?

-It's not so much that music and politics go hand in hand, but if you're gonna have a lot of people listening to your band it would be wise to have something to say. I think that musicians are messengers. It is our duty to speak to the people and give them possitive upliftings and help them to recognize and promote change.

Best political band?

-The best political band would have to be Bob Marley and The Wailers or The Clash. Anti-Flag is doing a great job as well.

Is there any good bands in your homecountry now?

-There are some really great bands here that no one has heard of yet. Black Rose Phantoms,Lobstrosities, My New Life, Bull Lee, and ones that are more popular are The God Awfuls, Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Tiger Army, AFI and so forth.

What do you know about Sweden?Have you heard any good swedish bands?

-The only thing I know is Swedish Death Metal and I had a girlfriend from there and her name was Aso.

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or is it a lifestyle?

-Punk means a bunch of different things to me. It means growing up on your own. Making decisions for yourself at a young age, having parents who were too drugged out to take care of you, surviving in a world that's not designed for you, finding a dream and doing whatever it takes to live it, doing alot of things you don't want to do and still smiling because you know that you still have your dream. Being punk also means not taking shit after learning who's full of it and who's not. It also means exposing the wrong doers and authority figures who don't have the people's best interest, but most importantly, being punk is about being yourself.

Have you done anything more than Nigtmerica? If you have how can I get  it?

-We have two EP's other than Nightmerica. The first one is called "4 Notes On A Dying Scale" and the other is called "Hucklebuck". Both records can be found and purchased at www.posmearrecords.com

Is it many interviews? Is it boring?

-We've had a ton of interviews so far, but I really enjoy them. I'm not sure how the others feel about them. I think that Dominic likes them as well.

Which is the question you never get, please ask it and answer it?

-It's funny, because we get asked everything. I guess the one thing that we never get asked is if we believe in UFO's. The answer is yes!

Is it any chance to see you in Sweden soon?

-We would love to play in Sweden and we hope that it is very soon.

Where is the best place to play?

-The best place to play for us has to be The Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, California. Of course we have yet to play Sweden.

How is a good gig with you?

-A good gig with us is any show with people to play for.

The name where does it comes from?(yeah it´s a boring question but it´s interesting)

-The name comes from me thinking up band names, but we already had a band name, so we used it for the record.

Futureplans for the band?

-Our future plans are to tour as much as possible

For yourself?

-My future plans are to tour as much as possible and write as many great songs as I can while doing that.

Wisdomword?

-My word of wisdom is: Don't take a knife to a gunfight

Something to add?

-I would like to add that we love what we do even if it means the death of us. We will continue to do what we love until we die. This love may very well equal death.
