Käpprätt is a really good hardcore band and in the end they were so kind that they answered a bunch of questions from me. The interview was published at the end of August 2026.

The boring thing first, when and why did you form?

-Käpprätt started in 2017! In short: One day, Daniel and Johnny went out to the pub and met some friends. In passing, they mentioned that they were eager to start a new band, and the news spread like wildfire. Before the evening was over, they suddenly had a whole lineup. If you want to hear the whole version, you can listen to Döda Katten's podcast episode no. 94 (take the opportunity to listen to Recat no. 257)

Tell us a little about each member, age, band next to and before. What do you work with and a fun thing about each member?

-David, 33 years old. Plays drums in No Saving Grace, Steel Freight, Dead Awaken, Fix Bayonets & Struggle.

-Didrik, 30 years old. Plays in Trolltakt (70's rock), Morbidoz (die good music). Works as a personal assistant. A funny thing about me is that I've been 11th best in the world, and best in the Nordic countries, at grilling.

-Emilia, 27 years old. Have only played in Käpprätt! I have a tendency to have a lot of balls in the air but right now I'm studying remotely and I'm a daycare for a little grumpy aunt. Sometimes I work at a youth center and on behalf of our local Tjejjour! One thing that maybe not everyone knows about me is that I have taught ballet, jazz and mother dance!

-Johnny, 29 years old (turns 30 in a couple of days). A newly graduated art historian, in other words, professionally unemployed, will continue to study pedagogy in order to one day become a teacher at some folk high school in the future. Previously I have played in a bunch of bands but the one that lasted for a while was called Fågelunge, and also have a current Eskilstuna-based band called Bella Sparks.

-Johannes, 27 years old and works as an office gnome. Has previously played in A Lethal Smile. Drink beer as if it were air, the cat that is. The owner is no better himself

You come from Västerås, there have been some good bands from there and there are probably still around... Any favorites?

- TST, Tvärnitad, Steel Freight, No Saving Grace, Stick o Brinn, Looptooprocker, Vittra, PuffBall, Soddus, Fix Bayonets, Fridlyst.

Favorites from Sweden?

- Hårda tider, Wolfbrigade, Kålrot, Skitsystem, Massgrav, Gadget, Vägran, Minimum Rage, Kallsup, Pyrocat, Strikt, Västerbron, Slöa Knivar, Beyond Pink.

You don't seem to like our prime minister, how do you think the election will go?

-Hopefully it will go to hell for him. Let's crush the right cocks.

How do you think it is to live in this Sweden led by a blue-brown mourning?

-Manageable now that September is around the corner:) We have been somewhat spared compared to many others, but it has been misery.

If you were given the chance to be prime minister for two weeks, what was the first thing you would decide on?

-First of all, we will be busy sorting out the shit the little man and all the other money-hungry bastards have started. But we can start by taxing the rich and stopping the privatization of welfare. Everyone should have access to the most basic things in life, such as a roof over their head, food on the table and good healthcare. In addition, we would like to: Invest and preserve culture, children should crowdsurf not sit in prison. Make an exception and lift the permit requirement for women's young women's shelters so that they can conduct sheltered housing. The end of the world is around the corner, but we can at least try to make it less bearable for future generations, so try to save the environment? Impose an arms embargo on all imperialist supporters. Criminalize the "secret lobbying" If we are lucky, we can fix refrigerators for Systembolaget.

Is it right, any thought behind the name or does it just sound good?

-The input came from a Tvärnitad & Stick o Brinn song called "Våran makt".

Now you have released your new record En hel jävla platta, didn you not have more songs or was it the intention that so few songs on the record?

-Okay like this, four of the songs were finished with our previous lineup. The rest was written in a panic when Emilia forgot to tell us that Grönpeppar had written to us on Messenger (real boomer who writes on messenger). Believed a reminder from Grönpeppar, she forgot AGAIN. Emilia blames the fact that she recently changed her ADHD medication and tapered down on her antidepressants. The third time Grönpeppar gets in touch, Didrik saw the message, and then they were in a hurry!! Now we needed to write as many songs as possible in 2-3 months. It may not sound so bad, but keep in mind that we just brought in a new drummer AND bassist in the band. So in addition to getting to know each other and practicing the setlist for already booked gigs, we were now going to write new music. That we even managed to write a few songs when we could barely get rehearsals together, is a miracle.

How is it feeling to release the album?

-Fat!!

Have you released anything before and if so, how do you get it?

-All our music is available on most streaming services! EP; Fulla som vanligt (2017) EP; Harkla upp dammet (2020) Album; S/T (2021) Samlingsskiva; En Bomb i skitsystemet - Ursäkta röran vol 5 (2022) Album; En hel jävla platta (2026)

It became Grönpeppar Records, how did that come, it's not so well known for hardcore bands exactly?

-We were asked and we said yes. You only get a chance like this once in a lifetime, but we almost missed out on because of Emilia.

Singing in English is nothing for you, I hope?

-Well I don't think so

Is it difficult to write a text that no one has written before or how does it feel?

-It's the first time that Emilia writes her own text so she thinks everything is hard and scary. But we all help each other so we don't have round two of afterparty at psych.

Politics and music is it a must when you play punk/hardcore?

-The majority of our songs are about drinking, so no, not really. But everything can be made into a political issue, so depends on how you look at it. However, there are a lot of class stories that come out by writing songs about how to bend.

Do you have any good example of any band that is really good even though they are not political?

-No

Is it important to get the music out in a physical way and not just digitally?

-We have always talked about releasing something physical, but it never happened because it costs too much. So it feels awesome to finally have done it!

Do you buy a lot of records yourself?

-Didrik, Johannes and Johnny are the ones who buy the most records from us! David's girlfriend threatens to leave him if he starts collecting physical media, so he doesn't buy any.

First and last record you bought?

David: I don't remember the first one, the last one was Borstal - No Surrender/Dark Path

Didrik: The doors & Wolfbrigade

Emilia: Amy Diamond's CD from 2007. Otherwise, I haven't bought anything since then.

Johnny: : Fredag den 13e Mänskliga Gränstillstånd & Gimic - New Tradition

Johannes: Alcazar & Bring me the horizon - count your blessings

Are you on the way with more material for a new record soon?

-Right now we don't even want to think about writing new music. We are still recovering from an intense and traumatizing autumn. But ideas and riffs exist, so we'll have to wait and see! But we've gotten a nice response to the album so I'm a little excited!

When you play live, what do you think is the best thing about it?

-DRINK!! FRIENDS!!

If you could choose five bands, any, dead and alive, which five bands would you choose for a concert night with?

-Motörhead, Anti-Cimex, Wolfbrigade, Bikini Kill and Massgrav. No band, but Emilia says Lady Gaga.

What are the future plans for the band right now?

-Continue to have fun and book more gigs!

Future plans for yourself?

-We face darker times with sunglasses

Words of wisdom?

-Go for it!!
