BARCODE

-dansk dynamit

Panter from danish Barcode was so kind that he took a little of this time and give me some shot answer on my questions in the beginning of april 2005.

History?

-Barcode dates back to 1995. We've put out 4 full length albums and been on a shitload of compilations, splits and tribute albums.

Please tell me a little about every member, interests, age, family
work and something bad about every one?

-Panter, 39 yrs, two kids, unemployed, too fucked to drink

Butch, 35 yrs, two kids, journalist, too drunk to fuck

Dr. J, 27 yrs, also plays in death metal act HateSphere, full of shit and he likes to show it to everybody

Snick, 25 yrs, smokes whatever comes his way

Rookie, 30 yrs, smokes whatever Snick brings his way

Which was the last gig you did? And the next one?

-04.12.04 MAD SANTA FESTIVAL, SCHUETZI, OLTEN, SWITZERLAND

20.05.05 INNOCENT, HENGELO, NETHERLANDS

What´s the difference between playing out today if you compare with when
you started to play?

-We get more beer, ha ha. And people know our songs.

How is to play hardcore in Denmark?

.The hc scene is next to non-existent in Denmark. Therefore we either support foreign acts or play with metal acts when playing in Denmark.

I think you sound as you come from the working class neighbourhood in New
York, how come did you get this sound?

-Because that's the sound we like and strive to achieve. And judging by your question it seems like we've succeeded.

What does punk mean to you, is it only a word or is it a lifestyle?

-To me personally punk doesn't mean jack shit. I've never been into punk - we've all grown out of the metal scene.

What do you know about Sweden? What is typical swedish?

-Hockeyfrilla

Have you heard any good swedish bands?

-No, never - ha ha. Seriously - there's so many great Swedish bands that I'd probably forget half of them if I tried to list them all.

What about Nuclear Blast as a label, is it the best label you can have?

-Belonging to a niche genre such as hc I think we couldn't ask for a better label. They're working really hard for us eventhough hc is probably not gonna be their new money machine.

Politics and music, does it goes hand in hand?

-Before Showdown I'd have sworn "no way". But, oups, a single semi-political song crept onto the album (Fanatics).

The best political band?

-Don't know any.

Your latest CD ,are you satsified with that?

-What do you think? Of course we're satisfied with it - otherwise it wouldn't be released!

Have you done any covers anytime, which is the favouriteband to cover?

-We've done several (Twisted Sister, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Poison Idea, Accept)

Have you heard any good covers of Barcode songs?

-I've only heard one (a Polish band) - and it was really hard to recognize, ha ha.

Is there any good bands in Denmark right now?

-Besides Barcode? I think As We Fight is a pretty good band.

Please rank your five favourite records, five best concerts you have been
to and five most important things in life?

-1 Slayer: Reign in Blood

2 Madball: Look My Way

3 Sick of it All: Built to Last

4 Barcode: Showdown

5 Terror: Lowest of the Low

Can't remember the top 5 concerts

beer

food

dope

booze

weed

First, last and the most expensive record ever bought?

-First album: Sweet: Give Us a Wink, Last: Agnostic Front: Another Voice

Most embarrassing record in your collection?

-Helloween (their debut EP - with autographs!)

The best record to have sex to?

-I don't fuck to music

How does the typical Barcode fan look like?

-There's at least three typical Barcode archetypes: The typical skater dude with baggy pants and back pack, The low life punk scum and the dedicated hc kid with tattoos and piercings.

How is a good concert with Barcode? Violent?

-Yeah, like Exodus once put it: Good Friendly Violent Fun

What is the most peculiar which have happened during your career, in the
audience or on stage? Please tell us?

-Somewhere in Poland. We were supporting Madball on their '99 Euro Tour. The venue was on the first floor with the stairs coming up from underneath the stage. So if you chose to stagedive you were truly diving - some 3-4 m!!! After our show a guy came to the back stage all covered in blood and no teeth left in his upper mouth: "I was a bit drunk when stagediving but I sure wouldn't miss the rest of your show, but now I guess I better go to the hospital". That's true dedication!

Is it many interviews? Is it boring?

-Yes, and no no - only when we're asked stupid questions :-)

Which is the question you never get but you want to have? Please ask it
and answer it?

-Would you like to provide the soundtrack for a porn movie? Hell yeah!

Futureplans for the band?

-Festivals during the summer and a DK + Euro tour is being set up for the autumn.

For yourself?

-Get a job

Wisdomword?

-Fuck you too.

Something to add?

-If somebody's got any connections to the Hultsfred organizers - please twist their arms and convince/threaten them to hire Barcode.

cheers,

Panter
